Snarkey Loon?

Snarkey = Snide and sarcastic; usually out of irritation

Loon = A person with confused ideas; incapable of serious thought.

Based on those definitions, I'd give GOPO the irritated part but that comes with his name:

Gopostal = Becoming extremely and uncontrollably angry, often to the point of violence, and usually in a workplace environment.

GOPO does do a lot of work here and everywhere else and he does get angry doing it sometimes. Snide and sarcastic? No. Confused ideas; incapable of serious thought? No. GOPOSTAL? Yes.

Don't worry folks. I'll stop him at the point of getting violent! LOL

I don't get angry, but I do get really irritated sometimes.

Look guys, I see many people saying and posting things that are patently wrong, not just here but in may UT places. Guys run a server for a year or two and because they can summon a supershock they think they understand the workings of the unreal engine.

There is nothing at all wrong with saying "I don't know or understand it" when a player asks a question. A good example is this 333 server thing. I was sure there was some sort of logical explanation but I just didn't feel like spending an evening finding it out. There were a few barbs from it pointed at me (both here and at other forums) but only because I asked Hook not to post it like it was trouble-free. It obviously isn't, and now we know why. This leads me to my next point:

As an admin or voice of authority you have a responsibility to disseminate information that is as correct as you can make it. Posting things as "truth" or "reference" when you are not really stone sure only harms the game as a whole. Your half-right information is now archived forever and a simple google search now shows it as gospel. If you post something, make damn sure it is correct. *Don't* guess at things.

Now does this sort of thing rile me up? You betcha. Nothing fires my engine more, and for good reason. I've spent a huge amount of my free time learning UT inside and out. There are more things I don't know than things I do, but by now I know where to look to find just about any answer to any question. This is evident in my "I fixed that" resume, one I'm quite proud of. Heck, ask Pots about this if you want a home-grown input. They had a server that couldn't start and in an hour I had it fixed, stable, and running with extras. I told them what the problem was, and why, and I got a pretty good dose of flack over it here. Well, guess what? I was right. It was the 333 server lines, exactly like I said. I didn't fight about it with Hook, though I will say I took personal offense at some of the postings in that thread. It insinuated I was wrong because I couldn't immediately prove I wasn't. I'd have thought a bit more latitude would be given to my input seeing as how I knew enough to fix it.

I'm sorry I have a lower than usual tolerance for some things. It's a personal foible but it's who I am. I've worked my butt off for most of you here on one thing or another, but I can assure you I'll never be someone who just quietly lets people post stuff that is wrong or allow my words to be mixed or minced without correcting it. Yes, I am direct but I'm like that in real life too.

Thanks Herm for letting me clear that out.

I'll have to DITTO gopostal's post. Mostly anyway.

Oh, And Fuzz_Ball - I am 55 years old, and I am probably getting senile as I am quickly forgetting about this whole thing! :P

I also realize that this particular thing isn't worth arguing over anyway.
Use it or not - Gopo is merely showing something that he found out for us all.

*Shakes Hands with Gopo.*

AFAIK the only limit is you cannot load more than 1,024 total maps (for all the four columns, wildcards included). I have nearly 400 maps listed in the same column by using wildcards and it works fine (well actually it takes a bit to load all the maps).

Oh, of course - I should have said Average 256 per column and actually 1,024 total distributed over the 4 columns and the 4 columns can be of various quantities so long as the total of the 4 columns does not exceed 1,024.
I was just quoting Cratos's awful ReadMe file. :|
His math sucks there. Or maybe it is his English - or both. :P

On {CLD} it loads up around 530 maps - so far - with that being duplicates of a lot of the maps that can load into more than one Game Type.
