UT Errors

This is not the usual General Protection Fault or D3D error.

Are you guys getting that in spec mode? If not do you remember what happened to cause it?

I was on the top of that rotating cube in MH-MHM3HomeMap{test} with Scify and I was trying to give her my Redeemer then UT crashed all of a sudden with that error.

Tick is basically like an internal clock. Each "tick" everything in the game is done once. Think of it like a frame on a reel of film. Each tick is a frame and everything is rendered and built for each frame.

About the errors, I think it's not so much val av as it is the spectator bug. In both failed functions that crashed there are checks for spectator. The spec bug in nexgen might be returning conflicting information causing major issues. You can see that now with the scoring and players being stuck until the map switches.

Maybe it's time to discuss dumping nexgen?

OMG nooooo I love it! I've noticed the Destination Unreal people are using a particular Nexgen console made for MH. Is that a private version they've built on their own?

Yeah it is. They run the custom scoring stuff they have through it.

Error. Funny, I don't see it being the Vahalla mod at all. I think it is a custom HUD causing the issue. Is there a custom HUD in MHM?

Everything in MH is a custom HUD. It was all built from the ChallengeHUD of the original UT HUD. That error HUD section deals with only the added scuba and flashlight counters, but it has a check for spectators so that they don't show the HUD like a player. I think the problem is there. Nexgen is getting really flaky last little bit and forcing a lot of spectating when people don't want it.

Now that you make me think about it, I remember a player who wasn't able to join the server as a player; I thought it was because I had forced him/her in spectator mode on a previous match so I had to force him/her in player mode in order to let him play again (it worked BTW). Do you think it was another Nexgen flaw?

I honestly don't know. There is something wrong in there though because we aren't crashing without it, or having the spectator problems in any JB maps.

If I recall, when you set up a server, it ask to allow spectate mode or not. With MH it is built in to allow I think. Maybe there is a conflict there and with NexGen. You know, the server says no, the MH mod says yes and the NexGen mod tries to do what it is told.

Man Herm, I really thought you nailed it. I had forgotten about the MH having it's own spec lines but I just checked and it is uniform throughout.

Nexgen is open source and the guy who codes it is very active at BU. The MH plugin though I'm not sure is high on his list of things to look at :( If this continues to be an issue, I might remove the spec part from it totally and let the server handle spectating and see if that clears things up. Spectating is actually a difficult thing for a server load, and serves no good in-game purpose. If it were my call, there would be no spec at all. If you want to play, then play. If you want to watch, use f5.
