Vehicle Database? :P

Post by BIOMECH » Tue Sep 28, 2010 12:01 pm

Wasp

This medium-sized craft is capable of several roles. The large storage area makes for a useful transport ship or personel carrier, and the set of long-barreled laser cannons mounted at the front give it adequate combat ability. The large windscreen and exposed thrusters do count against it in a fight, though. The 4 rear-angled thrusters (one mounted on each wing and a pair on the roof) give the Wasp a suprising amount of thrust, allowing it to get in and out of hazard areas quickly or mantain decent speed when carrying heavy loads.

The Wasp shown belown was the extraction vehicle during the assault on the Krogaar labs. Long thought abandoned, this arctic fortress-lab had been reclaimed by the Skaarj, who were using it both as a research base and power generator.

Armadillo

This heavy-duty vehicle looks a bit like a tank, but is infact an armoured transport used for sending soldiers into dangerous enviroments. Thick armour plates protect the crew from hazards, and large tracks give it mobility in difficult terrain. Large front-mounted searchlights allow it to travel by night or spot hazards in the road ahead, and the 3 windows around the cockpit provide good visibility for the driver. Were it not for these windows and the noticeable absence of any weaponry, the Armadillo could easily be mistaken for a tank.

The vehicle shown is one of a pair used by Hunters in the Miam rescue mission, where a team of archeologists went missing during the exploration of a desert temple.

Falcon

This quad-winged jet is a dedicated rapid response vehicle, forgoing all weaponry and nearly all storage capability in order to reduce weight, while still retaining enough room for a large squad of soldiers and sufficient gear. Two sets of wings layered one above the other improve aerodynamics and landing stability, while a large computer array provides information to passengers and crew.

These images were taken after the Kittara counter-attack. The isolated human outpost had been captured by an an allied force of Mercenaries and Skaarj, but a Falcon RRV landed just an hour after the attack took place. Taken by suprise, the enemy were annihilated.

These are some designed vehicles in UT99 maps.
The only one that moves is the Skimmer, and it just moves up and down to indicate it's floating. The first two are just decorative ways of how the map starts, so it gives the players the feeling they arrived to the map in that vehicle even though they just made it out of shapes. So they are purely for decoration.
I will either save you or kill you, convince me otherwise.

Well, you could use them as a mover.
I have a map or two that uses these types of vehicles as movers.
One map I have has boats in it that sip along rivers and you can fire at other players on the shore, etc. :P
That reminds me - I gotta find that map. :|

I have read plenty of times where they have taken vehicals from UT2004 and converted them to UT. They work and everything too I've read. I never cared because I didn't ever use them except in UT2K4. Want me to dig it up or can you folks find it yourselves? They are writen about on the Beyond Unreal forum and the UTAdmin Forums too.

Beyond Unreal Forums:

http://forums.beyondunreal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3

UnrealAdmin Forums:

http://www.unrealadmin.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=95

These two forums have single handedly tought me 85% of all I know in UT. GOPO taught me the rest along with some of you and the Atari UT forum which is now locked down.

Todo list:

MonsterHuntMayhem plane
Glacialis dropship
Maybe some of the ColdSteel vehicles.
Maybe a tank from 3s.

Great thing is I can stop updating this thread when I run out of vehicles, so it's a limited-time investment! :)

Until I find a vehicle I haven't done or someone makes new ones...

I knew MHM used a very similar design of warship, but I didn't think it was actually the same. Either way, there aren't that many vehicles in UT unless you start looking at "naab" ones, or unimportant stuff like cars.

I've accidently created a small and manageable project! Omg! :o

Why don't you take the ''naab'' one from Shakrak (AS-Mazon).
