Awesome finds HOOK. Thanks. I did a search through my ut.ini file for Forum and found another link that also still had the capital F. I fixed all of it. Please check it out and make sure it is good to go and thanks for the precision find. have a great 4th of July!

Had issues connecting to {CG} tonight - couldn't.
It just sat there saying Connecting ...
I had Jimm400 try - he had same problem. :(

It did the same thing to me tonight when I got home. I rebooted it and it worked fine. Seems it had been down since July 3rd. I found another virus on it today too. I'm removing it now.

The saddest and funniest thing about {CG} today is a ban on a player I tried to apply. It took me almost 30 minutes to recall how to do it and remember my passwords and all of that to log in and do it. My ban list was completely clear. Now it has 1 player who I have gotten plenty of gripes about over the years. I have tried multiple times to ban them too but they always seemed to get back in. Tonight I figured out how they did it and blocked that method as well. We'll just have to sit back and see what happens.

Download PeerBlock. You can block by IP ranges without having to do any weird firewall things. Just pull their IP from the log and add it to PB's interface. They will never trouble you again. Nelsona turned me onto this and it was a lifesaver.

I found where I was failing to use the search I was using properly. Once i got it to work I was able to identify up to 9 different IP's this person was using to connect. I banned some entire ranges and others just that certain IP. Then I used another mod and banned by player name too. I tested it on myself as well and I could not connect to {CG} via my regular IP or my name. It was lovely.

I've had multiple users complain about this player for years and I could not seem to ban them each time I tried. This player seemed to keep getting in so this time with my search agent working properly I banned every IP they had. They play every single day without fail but they haven't been able to connect since July 3rd.

Is this peer block a mod for UT or just some cool ip blocker? Thanks for the suggestion.

P33rBl0ck is a Win Application completely out of UT. Actually I can call it a "manual firewall". There are available even lists (last time they went for asking some money but they still load at first usage), these lists loaded in different formats are simply protecting you from being accessed or accessing a "wild" IP address. All web/udp services are caught and filtered. The dude trouble maker for UT won't see nothing any more. Of course, this is a huge advantage when you are hosting your own servers. Servers rented won't always offer protection or access to several important resources. This cute firewall is easily configurable.
Example of usage
According to log and players complaints I can check IP from server's log. Drop IP in some smarty WhoIs services and get range used. That range will be added as a new rule for a list named let's say "BadUtPlayers" with rule "block". Now they can drop stones, hot water, needles, whatever they have and... your machine won't deal with them. Btw, last time seems that proxies don't really work for UT and... they are listed too, so you can have a default rule for proxies.

Another category are companies trackers. Even in the closer past those lists were costing something. However, by tracking your logs is possible to build them yourself without to pay a single cent. If you don't like useless visits you can clean place.

A Long Free list is available called somehow "JohnBigList" which has around 2,000,000,000+ Evil IPs blocked: Attackers, Spammers, Adverters, Malware, Spyware, etc. so to speak useless locations for a normal Internet User.

Aside, I have old lists since they were free (I made local backups), if you need proxies by example I can PM some or other types. I'm not sure if is a good idea to share them in public if they are no longer free, however John lists are totally free and seems to have my entire collection there.

Just a sample from a typical day. Remember I run nothing special, there is no FTP server or anything. I only was running a single Unreal Coop server. All these bad actors continually probe the server all day long:

And just like that (after seeing Kelly's picture) it is installed. Thanks! This will be neat to watch. I need to get it on the servers too.

Who are all these players that were banned? I ask because whenever I use UT check to see who's online and playing on my favourites, CG is empty over 90% of the time. There are only 2 players I've seen regularly in there lately. I forget one player's name at the moment, but the other one has been calling himself "Donald Trump".

It surprises me that there are other people on CG that I am unaware of, and that they have been complaining about some bad players.

------------------------------------------------

I might as well ask this question in this thread: Whatever happened to Silent Bob? He's been gone for ages. I know he used a lot of aliases, but would always identify himself to me at some point during a match.
Someone told me during a game a couple of years ago that he got banned for cheating. I don't believe that for a second.

And second lastly, I was going to comment about CG being dead and empty all the time before I saw this discussion.

I still suggest that CG be reset to the settings that were used in the old days. This "new" hyperfast speed setting makes the bots crazy fast, and discourages guiding if your ping isn't that great. For some reason the blast area is much larger now too, making lesser players (such as ME) tend to blow themselves up a lot more often.

I want to say once more that I am sure that the present settings are to a large extent the reason why redeemer arena isn't as popular as it once was. Which is a shame.

---------------------
And while I'm visiting this thread, I'd like to ask that my bot be renamed from "unidentified entity" to "a non entity". ;)
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

Hmmm, it can't be the player calling himself "Donald Trump" that is cheating, as I can beat him very easily.

Also, I have chatted with Silent Bob on the phone and online a few times since he left the game.
He didn't want to leave, but 2 things kinda forced him out.
MEAT continually harassed him, and also his health mainly.
He had at least one heart attack while playing, and has since stayed away from gaming under doctor's orders. :|
