Still alive and kicking Hook! Been busy as a bee lately with family and work. I've been digging through music trying to find some good stuff to play. Has been interesting to say the least. I think I've got a decent selection so far. Not sure if the stuff I've picked out will be most everybody's cup of tea so to speak but I'm gonna give it a shot. I wanted to actually mod the music out when I ran the first server but I had a very small bit of webspace available to me and had it almost completely maxed with just the little bit I had on it the first time. This time I have a lot more space so I have some wiggle room. I've been working on it this evening and figured I'd take a quick smoke break and give an update. All the music is converted so I'm gonna start setting it up on maps. After that I'm gonna start compressing the files and see about getting them uploaded. Hopefully tomorrow evening I'll be able to sit down with a fresh client install and test out everything.

So far testing is going great! Got a friend to get on and help me and we went through about half the maps tonight. There is still some tweaking and some more testing to do but progress has been made. Time for some sleep. I'll keep y'all posted :)

Good to hear K C!
What "stuff" are you putting on that server?

Great googly moogly what a busy couple of weeks! Sorry I've been MIA for a short bit but haven't had time to breathe lately. Been dealing with a few computer issues and my brother just had a new edition to his family (baby girl) so its been crazy. Picked up a new toy about 2 weeks ago and trying to get it up and running. Got a Dell poweredge 1800 that I've been toying around with. It's actually odd having a REAL server instead of just a plain jane computer you happen to call it. Gonna see if I can get it all up and running and updated to the hilt then possibly run UT on the bad boy. Should be what the doctor ordered. I'll keep yall posted!

Good luck. I have had many chances to run my servers from a real server both rented and at home. I prefer the home PC route. It is not as good as a real server or a rented one but it is all mine all of the time and won't eat a ton of power like a real server will. Crank it up and tell me how it sounds...

A home-made server can be as good (or better) as a pro server if you buy the right kit.
My first Windows PC was built round an "extra" server MoBo that the company "lent" to me.

Many of the suppliers/importers used by the industry will supply to the individual.
That close to the top of the food-chain, you get prices that change every day, so the price of a build can vary from week to week.

The PCs I built for use in studios, were the ones that cost serious money, as the cost of some of those pro sound-cards can nearly double the price of the rig !
