BLOCKED - not fun ...
Very sorry about NOT being here at HOH forums anywhere near as much as I would love to be.
My work blocks this forum (keyword "Games") and I don't get on the forums much when I am at home LOL.
Really bothers me a lot.
Herm, you checked your keywords? (No "Game or Games" in there?)

LOL ?
When I'm in other place, using G00gle I'm trying simple words "Hermskii's forum", never failed (only when forum was down).

You could be blocked several ways.
Software running on the PC.
Browser plugin.
browser proxy.
On the router.
If they have a business-grade router, this is the most likely option.
lookup the router and you should find info on the firewall and blocking options.
how do you try and access the site ?
Search engine, link on a site, or type the address.
When you are blocked, what do you see ?
normal embedded page, or popup.
The URL may give a clue.
If you are blocked from using the USB ports can you use the CD drive ?
Install Opera as a USB install.
Change the history/cache settings so it does not use disk storage.
Burn to CD.
If you can open ZIPs and receive emails, ZIP the Opera folder and send it to yourself (or put it in your Skydrive).
Also worth checking out is the TOR browser. You can use the same steps I gave above.

If all else fails, here's a java emulator of the Mobile version of Opera

you can also try a site called portableapps.com. They have a bunch of portable stuff that installs to a flash drive. like browsers (opera included) IRC, chats... pretty much everything. To bypass the oppressive business net structures you can always try a VPN or even RDP or Logmein to you home computer and surf from there. I do it all the time.

Flash drives are forbidden, and also they seem to have all things covered.
Now Helen's forum has the same block as I have here from work. arg

Re: BLOCKED - not fun ...
You're being watched. Ask the IT people to put these two sites on the white list. Give them out addresses, let them see for themselves and I bet they'll add them to the white list for your viewing pleasure. They can even set it up so they only work during lunch. Hey! As i was filling this out the spell checker worked again!

Re: BLOCKED - not fun ...
Can you RDP out to your own computer at home? Or use logmein to remotely control your home system and browse from there? I don't know how they could complain about that. If you went to any funky sites it would be funky sites from your home system.Hook wrote:Flash drives are forbidden, and also they seem to have all things covered.

I'm aware of HOOK's computer prowess and in short it is lacking. That said, I'd be happy to help you hook to set any or many of these options so you can cruise the web again at work.

Well, I know a lot and I know a little.
I best leave the work comp as is.
It only affects a few sites.

Re: BLOCKED - not fun ...
My personal lesson for myself: I won't ever use a PC from work to log or to visit any of my hobby-place. Such a PC "protected" with an antivirus seems more harmfull than a clean one. Last time that machine was insulted by all kinda nasty codes and processes loaded in memory. I won't visit anything than common news and/or apps for devices used at work because a spyware loaded into such machine (used by more than one guy) will be able to gain data belonging to your accounts and... hello.
