Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
The internet is made for Gorn!
*ahem*
A stretch back, geek that I am, I found a umod on some REALLY old UT site for original series Stark Trek skins... and it's largely been collecting dust on my harddrive for awhile. This past weekend I dug into them to check them out:
Basicaly they're decent skins, but very pale. A little too pale, they look like they were exposed to brighter light, or there a fog between you sorta thing. The old problem that vertain parts of certain models aren't subject to team colors work against them something fierce too:
Yeah, they've got decent faces. Some are clearly photos molded over onto the skins, which works okay sometimes but mostly not.
Chekov's looks psychotic!
To give an example of contrast, 1 skin the set has is the Gorn (slap yourself if you don't know what that is).
I took the original and enhanced it:
Then I started playing around with it and other things:
The pieces for the Klingon skin are not from this set. I'm a geek, I've had Klingon skins awhile too.
Long story short, I now have Gorn running around my games:
Not done playing around with these yet, working up other skins into a Gorn skinset (4 so far).
Got a basic talk texture done too:

Might be getting a little scary. Made a Spider-Gorn last night. Picture, waist-up, where Spidey has blue is now replaced with green scales; team color on the pants.Hermskii wrote:That's just awesome. I'm such a Trekie!

I just noticed that on page 1 of this you have Kirk face on a soldier. That face looks exactly like mine in my current fat state.

I'm telling you that is tripping me out. That is exactly what I look like when I have shaved off my beard:

Look for the Captain Kirk Skin and then check the different colors of the skin. It's me!

Re: some of the skins I've made/edited
One of the big reasons I never seem to finish any skins is each skinning project gets sidelined by some other wonky idea.
For a long time I toyed with making a skin of the Red Skull, but always held off because I didn't want a Nazi skin. Then again, more recent iterations have lent themselves to more the Hydra terrorist group... which was born out of the other thing but at least they don't wear swastikas.
Pretty basic costume.
I swapped around a lot of heads before I had something that worked...
...still got even out the tint a bit as the greens don't all match.
Got ideas for team colors, but I'm not there yet.
