Re: Active Forums
ut99.org is either down or it's gotten virus'd. Haven't seen that many red flags go up since Unreal Mayhem 1st started developing issues.
Anybody know what's up?

Hook's UT Place has been down since yesterday morning - I don't know why!
The Host is also down, with no explanation.
Stay tuned!

Re: Active Forums
Do they let you put up an emergency message pointing them here like I do when my crap craps out? Don't do it. I can't handle the bandwidth! LOL. Go for it.

Re: Active Forums
No, unfortunately they do not.
In fact, they haven't yet even given an explanation as to what is going on.
I know they are working on it, because the forums hosted there come back at times for a while, then off again.
Stay tuned!

Re: Active Forums
As even in this new format I still can't edit posts after anyone's replied to it, to keep what's at the start of this thread accurate I'm also doing it back at my own place.
Ta-da · http://unreal-games.livejournal.com/tag/forums
It's the only post on the "forums" tag now.

Re: Active Forums
True,
Nobody but I can change or edit a post after the post is about an hour old. This is not the fault of anyone here but because someone who was here a long time ago chose to edit/delete his own posts as well as others I decided to remove that feature from everyone. Now it can only be my fault if bad stuff happens here. You can request that I modify posts for you as I have here. Please see post number #1 of this thread now and tell me if that is good enough.

Re: Active Forums
Mostly works, although it's kinda buggy how it lists this forum: 2nd from the top.Hermskii wrote:Please see post number #1 of this thread now and tell me if that is good enough.

Re: Active Forums
I didn't do that. That is your handy work and I respect it enough not to mess with it. The BUF Forum is a fine place and I'd never expect this forum to rate higher than it or than Unreal Admin and UT99. It doesn't matter where we are on the list but just that we are on it. Good work. Good job. Thanks!

Re: Active Forums
They're not in any particular order, and your forum lists your forum like that. I don't know why, only other forum I got this one didn't do the same for where it was listed.Hermskii wrote:I didn't do that. That is your handy work and I respect it enough not to mess with it.
Placing a link to this forum within this forum makes it do that for some reason.

Yes, all good forums should be just "ON" the list - they are ALL good!

Re: Active Forums
So, ut99.org got slammed today with spambots. About 50 to 100 new accounts all created in the last hour, each one making anywhere between 75 to 300 posts also in the last hour, and the forum is still getting flooded with posts.
Best way to tell they're spambots, beyond the excessive influx, is when most actual people make a post it automatically gets 1 view from the person who posted it. All of these posts have no views because they're being generated by spambot accounts.
Content of these posts, in content and subject line, is a bunch of pervy porn type suggestive stuff, for the most part, and some geek filled sugestions... with the obligatory link in the post that you probably don't wanna click unless you want your computer to melt.
I was tempted to click one because i'm not home... but that would just be mean to whoever's comp i'm on.
Also possible the links are hacking links, meaning you click them and then suddenly you lose access to your account and it starts making new spam posts on its own.
Either way, BAD news!
