I stayed at and worked from home today. We had ice all over everything here this morning so Houston shut down basically. It is awesome to easily be able to work from home.

Ice storm - Oh boy! (those suck)
We are getting super cold again on Monday and Tuesday (23 below zero) - AFTER a Blizzard tomorrow on Sunday!

We've been getting a lot of -23C weather this month, even once during the day, but usually overnight. However -23F = -30.6C so you "win".

Hey Hook, did you get hit by the previous ice storm? That one has done a LOT of damage down this way. My town sent a contractor to trim a broken branch off of a tree in my front yard. I was watching that one, and was worried about what would happen when it finally came down. It would have landed close to the sidewalk. They also kindly cut the ends off of previously damaged branches that came down in the past. That was nice of them. I'm not telling the town that the branch in question was actually broken by one of the wind storms we've had in the past couple of months. It was already broken by the time that the ice storm hit here. I was very lucky in that one. I only lost power for 6 hours. Parts of the city of Toronto were without power for weeks.

Notice the "Sun Dog" in the picture below on my way to work this morning...

"Sun Dog" is on the left - real sun on the right.
They are caused by ice crystals in the air and appear on both sides of the sun.

Going to be a bit of a warm-up to my area in a few days - into the mid 30s F.

It is 60 outside now and in the sun which is out it is even hotter. I could easily break a sweat cleaning my pool today!

Warmer here today - about 25 to a high of 35 F. or so.
Lots of snow this morning on my way to work (on the Tundra LOL)

70 here almost. Was a little nippy yesterday though. Spring is almost on us!

Yes I think you are right!
I woke up to -15 F. this morning - going up to a high of +9 F. today. YAY!
They say mid to upper 30's F. by the end of this week!
AND - it is no longer Dark when I go to and from work

Then let spring come! The weather men all say that this is "only" the 2nd coldest winter in the last 25 years around here, and that the winter of '93-'94 was colder. That may be so. I do not remember. But I will say that this winter is certainly the worst in my life time. While there hasn't been a record amount of snow, far from it actually, the cold has certainly lasted the longest. It came early and never really left. It has lasted and will last well into March, they predict. We usually get cold and snow, and then a thaw that melts a lot of it eventually, then the process repeats a couple or few more times. But not this year. So far we've only had two mini thaws that got rid of some of the snow, but not much. And it was replaced anyway. And underneath that new snow is 3 or 4 inches of solid ice left over from the huge ice storm that blacked out this area. I only lost power for 6 hours on the first day, but others lost it for weeks. And no matter how bad it was here, the whole of the east coast has really suffered a great deal more.

After the ice storm I gave up trying to clear my driveway. The snowblower got most of the winter off after all. I only used it once. Once the warmer weather arrives, I am going to have my work cut out for me getting the snow away from the garage door. Otherwise the melt will creep in and flood the whole garage floor. Oh my wrists ache already at just the thought of all that ice chopping I will be doing!
