Re: HOH OFFICIAL - Good Morning/Day/Night thread...
Hey all, happy Thursday......
So Hook, what were the temperatures like up there on Lake Superior?
During the great Arctic freeze we had here in the East a month ago, -even all the way down here in the Toronto area it was often -20C / -4F for the day's HIGH temperature. The wind out of the west was STRONG, and stripped the heat right out of this old house. I have an oil furnace and a natural gas insert in the fireplace. So all 3 bills for gas, oil, and electricity (I had the coils on the stove going often for some heat in the kitchen) were high. I set a monthly record I think, on the gas bill.
Were you able to go outside at all?

Actually it was absolutely beautiful out up there!
I loved every minute of it.
I only took a handful of pics and I need to get off my butt and post them!

Re: HOH OFFICIAL - Good Morning/Day/Night thread...
Yep nameless, all good!
You deserve it too.
I have about 3 more long years before I am going to start collecting my retirement income that I bought and paid for all my life through taxes.
That is, unless Washington D.C. decides they will take our Social Security pensions away (and our Medicare) - which has been brought up quite a bit lately
I still do not think that will happen though - it would be a catastrophe indeed.
Anyway, very good for you my friend!
I am looking forward to it also!
Enjoy!

Nameless is ooooolllllllllddddddddd. Na na na na na naaaaaaaa! LOL
I'm 50 and don't give a crap about it other than the weight gain sucking, and my vision crapping out and my hearing going bad and my feet hurting and my sex drive going away and my ringing in my ears and my creppy skin I'm slowly getting not to mention the sagging everywhere and the loss of hair and the graying of what remains and my teeth getting bad and the colonoscopy I had to endure the other day.
Nope I don't care about getting older...
I'm doing great!

That's a good question......are the HOH servers still down?

Well it's HUMP day; but perhaps for Hook it's Hmmmphhh!! day, as his new forum is down!

Re: HOH OFFICIAL - Good Morning/Day/Night thread...
Wow, yes, our new HUTP host is really on top of things.
With previous hosts, the forum would have been down for quite some time, and come back up laggy and screwed up.
With this new host (ProBoards) they have everything backed up Big Time and Back Up online quickly!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch ...
BIG Storms coming to Minnesota today through Sunday morning.
Thunder storms, Freezing rain, Heavy rain, Ice and Snow big time.
They are saying between 10 and 14 inches of snow for my area.
A few days ago I was pondering putting my snow blower away for the summer.
Then I thought that IF I do that, THEN it will for sure snow, so I did not put it away.
I guess it was the Thought that counted!

Yes, well.... I defiantly put my winter boots down in the basement last week.
And it seems that the weather Gods were watching. That mess is headed this way too!

Re: HOH OFFICIAL - Good Morning/Day/Night thread...
I am wearing those winter boots right now as I sit here in the library.
We got 1" to 2" of "snow", which was actually a build up of ice pellets. Luckily, we did not get much freezing rain here in town. There were power outages all around us, but my power stayed on during the weekend and Monday. Yesterday it was raining as I got ready to go outside and shovel the "snow" away. I store my old winter parka that I use for such chores in the basement near a heat register so that it's always warm and dry for the next use. There was a puddle of water coming from under the dryer that snaked its way to the floor drain in the laundry room. A quick check of the sub floor above confirmed no leaks in any pipes, so I leaned over the dryer and saw water seeping in at the bottom of the wall. I've had slight dampness here and there in the basement where the walls meet the floor before, but usually only during very heavy rains or a fast melt of snow. The rest of the time the weeping tiles direct the water to the floor drain system. So I went outside to discover that the rain had melted all of the ice/snow against the house on the affected wall, and that there were two spots with huge 3 inch deep puddles standing against the house. So I used my plastic scoop shovel to patiently dig away all of the snow from the side yard on that side, then used the scoop shovel to gather the water and fling it all away. Then I went around the house and shoveled and dug all of the ice and snow away from the foundations on the other three sides. Then I picked up all the sticks and branches that had blown down into the yards. Then I shoveled the driveway to prevent any melt from getting into the garage.
When I came inside afterwards to have a coffee I was shocked to see that what felt like an hour's worth of work had actually been three hours.
Today it is grey, damp, and miserable outside. And I was plastered with wet snow most of the way over here to the library. The town plowed the streets, but the snow/ice covered the sidewalks, so I had to walk in the street dodging traffic now and then. And just now the sun is out, and it is snowing even harder.
Happy April, everybody! The long range forecasts have been predicting a return to normal April temperatures all month long. Surely it will happen eventually, right??
