And now for something completely different:

Something I saw online tonight got me to thinking about the old Amiga game Gods. This was an awesome game for its time, and was released on a number of other platforms including the Atari ST, SEGA, and on up to the Gameboy.

I remember the then incredible graphics of this game, and how it fueled my frustration with 2D games, and desire for true 3D games to come along.
It was a long wait!
If you watch this video on Youtube you should see a bunch of levels with comments by someone called Facepunch who recorded the gameplay on the SEGA, come up down the side of your screen. I watched the last level through to the end. I noticed that the Sega version had a different victory animation at the end. The Amiga's was nicer, as I recall.

On the Amiga you could replay the game after final victory. The monsters were twice as tough. I decided to go for a billion points final score after trying continuous replays one day. For on playthrough #3 the monsters dropped down to x1 toughness. Then back to x2 then x1 and so on. So I ended up leaving my A500 on with the game running for several days. One day I came home from work and the game had crashed. After rebooting I soon discovered that I had burned out a chip inside the computer, for I could no longer play sprite based games. My characters would always run to the right side of the screen, and full left on the joystick would only stop them, not move them to the left. :?
But I could still play strategy based games. So I was still able to play Silent Service II and Empire.
I never bothered to get my A500 repaired. But I still have it in storage in the basement.

The title is buggy, but the rest is hilarious!

Just a head's up: This is kinda horrible, in an OH-SO-WRONG way... but the moment I saw it I knew I had to share it.

Brace yourselves!

This was blocked for quite a while, but suddenly it's back!
Lyrics and translation available at YouTube in the comments section. :)

Check out that station wagon in the lower right corner of the photograph. Isn't that a car made by the Checker Cab Company? I didn't know they made station wagons! I'm right, am I not? It is a Checker, isn't it?

After hearing this little goodie for the first time, I could understand better why Francoise was called one of the Ye-ye girls of her day.
This is the nicest version of this little bon bon I've seen so far. The song must have been a hit, because there's more than one TV video that was made for it back then.
I still don't get why we didn't have music videos back in the '60's here in North America, as they're such fun to watch.

I have certainly shown this to some people. Looks interesting as hell. The screaming hologram soldier guy is annoying.

And if you watch the whole movie you'll either come to understand why I love riding my H.D., or you won't and never will. Find out why don't ya?
If I could edit a previous post I would include the following video:

What Jay Leno says about his '36 Knucklehead is spot on.
All Harleys from the first '36 OHVs right through to the last of the Evolution engines share a common lineage, with the later motors being improved versions of the earlier ones.
Modern Heritage Softails are deliberately styled to look like the classic Knucks and Pans of past eras, but there's a practical aspect too. The design is compact and highly functional. Truly a timeless classic.

It's a shame Jay didn't get around to having a good look at his treasure sooner. ;)

Here's the Japanese video again, featuring a '39 knuck. I just love the part where he opens his old beauty up, and blasts past all of his riding buddies on their modern Harleys. :D

I've been looking for an affordable squirrel proof bird feeder for some time.

I'm unwilling to spend the money on this one, as it's almost two hundred dollars up here, but it sure is a hoot of a concept.

http://drollyankees.com/video/yankee-fl ... of-feeder/

No video for this one, but the perches just collapse under the weight of anything heavier than a Cardinal or Bluejay, dumping the offender to the ground.

Still kinda pricey though.

Say, that reminds me: Wasn't there a player who called himself Squirrelly or something like that back then?

p.s. I've just seen a video where a squirrel hung on for nearly 10 minutes and ran the battery down in the Yankee Flipper. :o
