Will they be back?

Post by a nameless entity » Tue Jun 10, 2014 3:53 pm

I mentioned this in the HOH website forum too:

That a number of threads are missing, and some replies in others.

Will they be restored later? Also, my recently changed password has reverted to my old one. I will switch it back to the new one later if I must. Or will it too be restored later?

I repeat myself merely to increase the chances my questions will be seen. ;)

Sorry. I'm betting no. I think what was lost is lost. I don't recall them saying to me that any loss during conversion would happen but I'm cool. You?

Hell, I ride a Harley. I'm always cool. ;)

So I'll just change my password back to the new stronger one again. No problem! :)

Edit: Well try #1 just failed. So I'm stuck with the old password for now. Or do I have to wait a while before the server notices the changes? :|

Are you sure that they didn't move a backup?

I'm mildly amused by the now missing sections of this forum, as when i first got on here Herm kept trying to get me to uypload files directly to here because he cautioned that if I kept hosting stuff elsewhere it would get lost.

Life's little ironies.

Blah blah blah.

OK. You win EG. You ended up being right. I lost or files were lost due to me upgrading the forum home location.

GUILTY. I admit it. There have been post here that have been lost due to me moving this forum, the website associated to this forum which most folks are totally unaware even exist and all of the files that that are high speed redirected from mine and multiple other servers.

I should be shot. Since I''m here in the awesome USA, I get to live AND continue with my pathetic efforts to provide some fair servers and a forum for folks to chat about stuff at not to mention the website that nobody ever goes to. Insert shameless link: ( www.hermskii.com )

All of that said, I'm reminded of a tune by a pissed off chick that titled something like "Isn't it ironic?"

For the record, the next time I move this entire entity (which I hope will be never), I will notify and warn everyone to expect all post over a two week period to be lost in translation somehow.

If I didn't mention yet about this most latest data loss....sorry. this makes 2 times now in about about 8 years where I lost data. The first time was wayyyyyyy worse. I accidently nuked exactly 25 users and all of their posts. That still hurts me a little bit to this day. Damn what an awful mistake that was. i was trying too clean spam off the forum before it had good built in cleaning solutions. I nuked 25 users and every single thing all of them had every said. I was devastated. So were they if you can imagine...

By the way, I have noticed that while the forum loads entire pages much faster, it loads new posts much slower. Anybody else notice his? I'm using Chrome right now and when I hot submit, it takes about 5 - 10 seconds to post whatever I just typed. Even this short post for that matter. Anybody?

I'll time my response and edit the post.

BUT no matter how many times I try, I still cannot get this new place to accept my NEW password. Yet, when I go to log in the new longer password is there already typed in for me. But it is NEVER accepted, and I must erase its field and type in the OLD password. And then tell Firefox that I do NOT want it to remember this old password. :?

EDIT: A maximum of 2 seconds to post this message while using Firefox. More like 1-1.5 seconds. :|

Never had any problems with the forum, or the speed. The engine is running just fine.

After I switched web hosts it seemed odd for just a few days but now it is all working and much better than ever before too. Glad you didn't notice the lull.
