Windows 10
So who is going to get or upgrade to Windows 10?
I have windows 7 on the current computers that I use on a normal basis. I like Windows 7 and I DO NOT like Windows 8.
I am thinking of staying with Windows & since I like it and since it "ain't broke, don't fix it".
What are your thoughts? Pros vs Cons?

Re: Windows 10
I'll be making the switch because I'm in the business and it will help me acclimate to it quicker. I'm told it is faster than Win 7 and 8 too by the way. I struggle to believe it though or maybe it is but i bet it is much harder to move around in the gain in speed won't overcome the slowdown in trying to figure out how to do stuff ending in net greater slowness.
I'm still going to do it.
I'm still going to do it.

There isn't any free upgrade for XP users, so once again I feel left out.
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

Re: Windows 10
I just finished my upgrade about an hour ago. Everything exported/imported correctly and works. I'm very glad I did it and I'm not one to like a bunch of changes. The interface is way smoother and better laid out AND:
I got my START button back!
Yeah, go ahead and update without fear. It took me about 40 minutes on my crapbox system and when it was over it preserved my desktop, settings, etc. Even my passwords that were saved were still there.
You'll be glad you did. OK, now to go chat with Cortana...

Re: Windows 10
So, UT works good and all is as it was (nothing lost) before upgrading to Win10?

Re: Windows 10
I've done 5 systems in the house now, from my higher end gaming PC to a laptop from circa 2008 running XP and every single time was without issue or problem. The upgrade to my lowest system was done in the time it took me to make soup and grilled cheese for the kids. MS really got this right.

Re: Windows 10
Mostly just want my computer working again, but I will had WinXP running when it died.
Win 10 looks interesting, but there's a lot of complaints about it on the official UT-engine forum. I kinda see a UT playing issue, in the wonky part of my head, with the touchscreen applications...
...could really screw up my game if a fly landed on the screen and started walking around.

Sounds excellent.
I have received reassurances from several now about how well Win10 still runs UT99 right out of the box.

Re: Windows 10
I have Win 10 on several computers now and have found several issues with it already. Admittedly they have been driver issues but on my main PC for instance I installed it and it didn't have the driver for my network card. So when it booted into WIN 10 the first time i have no internet anymore or email. NO PLAYING UT ONLINE. My color laser printer stopped scanning to folder and email. Tons of little things like that. I have seen several of the new things and like many but if you have WIN 7 you should stick with it. WIN 8 sucks. WIN 10 is good but you will have some issues I'm betting.

Don't stop because of me. Do it and see what doesn't work. You can revert back if needed I'm told.

So you are told....have you tried it yet? Just curious.Hermskii wrote:Don't stop because of me. Do it and see what doesn't work. You can revert back if needed I'm told.
Well, I am the type of person that most of the time I feel if "it ain't broke, don't fix it." I have Windows 7 on my everyday computers and I like it that way. I do not see much value in updating to Windows 10.
I went from XP to Windows 7. I have seen and dealt with Windows 8 and 8.1 at work and do not care for them. I know Windows 10 is supposed to have Windows 7 features, if I have Windows 7, then I do not need an imitation of Windows 7.
