2016 Presidential Elections

Post by David » Thu Jul 21, 2016 6:39 pm

I am not into politics but with the up coming presidential elections, I found myself where I view both candidates as being ill for the USA. This is my own opinion of course.

I just cannot believe that Trump has made it to the big stage. I guess that shows how tired some of the people in the United Stated have become over politicians.

I'm shaking my head as I see nothing but trouble in the future.

A part of me is thinking that Clinton will win, just because it hard for me to believe that Trump could win. I just wish we had a better option...

What a fine set of choices you have.

1) A professional politician who is an employee of the 1% and has an ego the size of NYC,

or....

2) One of the 1%'ers themselves, who makes his rival's ego look miniscule by comparison.

Pick the lesser of the two evils.

I was also upset with the mood of the crowd when Trump started mouthing off about Muslim immigrants all being potential terrorists. They sounded like the Nazi thugs who used to stamp their feet and shout whenever Hitler spouted some of his hateful rantings against the Jews.

(As an aside, I should say that that Cruz fellow may be more intelligent than Trump, but that he is just as awful in his hatefulness.)

I know nothing about Trump's running mate, but he seems to be a good choice from what I hear.
I predict that if Trump wins, somehow he will be gone within two years. :|

He has got a point there. And I totally agree with him. Please let me explain.

1 army has many enemies, 1 IS warrior or Turk or any Islamic 'warrior' 'has 1000 friends. Not sure if the news on the channels over there broadcast the same as here in Europe, but have you seen the president Erogdan or whatever his name is. He is far - far - far worse than anything you've ever seen from Trump or any other politician over there. If there was a second major evil or second Hitler on earth that would be him.

A few weeks ago a dutch journalist called him wrong about things he said onto the public over twitter. She was transported by FORCE to pay fine and do a time in jail in Turkey. She is free now.

Now the German situation. ( just fresh! ) In total , if you count the minor and the major explosions and shootings and mass murders you get over 50 in 3 months. ALL by the #$%$#%^&&&^(&*(&*(*(&((*& stupid eastern folks over there.
( Sorry Hermskii. )

The Islamic religion is taking over Europe. I'm telling you.
They come here to the Netherlands to find a new life and get money from the government to live a life. They break down every other religion here, are being criminals and are highly harrasive.
Say 1 thing about that, and the wrong Turk or whatever race finds out in your area your area, they gangbang you up with 50 people.

For the record, I am not saying that every islamic believer is a potential danger. But look at the hard, undeniable facts here in Europe. 90% of all crimes, stealing, killing and shootings is because of them.

I'm not a US citizen , If I was Trump is the man.

Edit :2

Only Jesus Christ can save us from this world of madness. The Islamic believes is nothing but a fake, made up story. That spread like a virus and a wildfire there. They believe in a non-existing god. For there is only the LORD.

Amen.

The USA presidential election & final selections facinate me.
Don't know why, maybe for the actual fact our news channel here presents nothing but the news going on there.
Can someone present me -- as in black and white-- what the BIG DEAL is there and why the democration is one the biggest 'issues' out there?

I'm a outsider , I only wish to understand.

Yes, Hillary is flawed. But compared to the Donald she is a paragon of virtue.

Yet you are enthusiastically voting for Trump? Why?

Upon reflection, I think I was wrong to compare Trump to Hitler. I think others who have done the same are wrong too.

We need to look a few years farther back in history for a better comparison. Namely to Italy of the 1920's.
Trump isn't a Hitler; he's a Mussolini. Old Benito spouted a lot of the same nonsense as the Donald does now. He shouted a lot of nonsense to his blackshirt followers about making "Italy great again", and so on, just as Donny does about America now. His blackshirts enthusiasitically stamped their feet and shouted whenever Il Duce ranted and raved about whatever was on his mind too. And they gladly beat up anyone who they took to be "against" them.
So I was wrong to imply that the Donald was akin to a Nazi. That's not what he is. He is a Fascist.

The Americans only have two political parties. (There are others, but they are insignifigant by comparison)

Americans tend to be conservative in their views.

The Republican party is a right wing party. Compared to most other countries, they are very right wing, even ultra conservative.

The Democratic party is, depending on your own point of view, centre right leaning, centrist, or centre leftish.

Since about 1980, a tendency in American politics to be somewhat polarized has gradually gotten a lot worse, perhaps even dangerously so. The two parties now have such differing ideas on where to take the country that they find it very hard to get anything done. Deadlock is now where they often find themselves, politically.

It doesn't help that the media outlets that support one party or the other have gotten so strident in their vilification of the other side's views that the whole political atmosphere in that country has become seriously poisoned.

Those moderates who are left in that country can only shake their heads and wonder what can be done about it. :(

Ah I see, I think I understand.

But what are you saying about the current elections exactly ? You wish you have different options or is there something going on behind the scenes? Because that's my feeling in the current politic world.

Well first off I should point out that I am not an American. I live next door to them, in Canada. On a good day in traffic I could drive to the border in less than an hour. I watch TV through an antenna, and can pull in many American TV stations.

The discontent that many Americans are feeling has many roots. Some of them were described today by someone speaking to a news outlet at the Democratic party convention. They include the national debt, which nearly doubled a few years ago in order to save the banking system, but that only gave back a very weak and shakey economy. The rust belt is another, many industries left America, and a lot of displaced workers never got jobs. Or are working full time for starvation wages. Many more workers were left behind by technological progress, and are hurting too. Students gather huge debts getting an education only to find that they cannot find any work at all.
Also many people rightly feel that the two parties are not listening to them. Both parties are or seem to be preoccupied with their own internal agendas, and are out of touch with reality, and the common people.

This is why a lot of people like Trump. He comes from outside the system, and speaks his mind plainly. That's refreshing to them, although what he is actually saying is very frightening.

Hillary Clinton is very much a part of the inner circle, but is popular despite her numerous gaffes and her membership in the elite. She seems the more rational choice, and would be the first female president, which is a bonus to many.

However the "Dump Trump" campaign in the Republican party, and the "Bernie or Bust" movement in the Democratic party show that both parties are ready to explode.

I predict that if Hilary wins the presidency, that the Republican party will shortly thereafter self destruct in a sea of bickering and recriminations. It will probably split into its three component pieces: The extreme right (the tea party), the religious right, and the remainder. Possibly the tea party and religious right will form a new ultra right wing party.
-If the Republicans win the election, they will be able to hold it together for a while, but will eventually break apart anyway.

At some point down the road the Democrats will fracture too, into a liberal party, and a left wing socialist party.

It's just a matter of time. The American people have needed a party that gives a voice to their views for many years. The two coalitions that both parties are have not been doing that for a long time. Once the dust settles it will prove to be a good thing. Everyone will have a political party that gives them a voice in politics.

Reading your story gave me an impression that the future will be very gray, as both parties aren't what the people want.
If Hillary and Trump weren't the final candidates, who would you have chosen happily?

Or extend Obama's presidency with another four years?

So you are basicly saying both parties will eventually ''self destruct''. The people must accept the fact that no matter who wins, they should believe and trust in the plans that will help the economy the most. I pray and hope that it will.

This situation kinda reminds the of the song: Pink floyd - Another brick in the wall.

The children are very much dependent of it. They deserve a future.

But we are optimists too, for the same reason counts that we don't know what the future brings exactly we can always make a light by thinking positive. There is calmness after a storm is gone.

Thanks for explaining it to me.

You're welcome, but don't forget that these are my own impressions and ideas of what may happen next, and that I am an "outsider" too.

An American might explain things very differently, especially if he or she has a strong political bias or opinion.

One other thing I'll predict is that if things in the US remain as they are now, with congress blocking anything the president tries to do as they did with Obama, the country is in deep trouble. And so is the world. With the middle east in chaos, and China and Japan getting ready to square off and have another go with one another, not to mention the weakness in Europe with Brexit and everything else, an impotent USA will initiate the kind of instablility that leads to war. A big war.
Big changes in the world are coming. And like it or not the USA will decide whether they be violent or not, by either becoming politically moribund, or rejeuvinated.
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess
