Some SAD News indeed...

FYI - Gopo and TheDane - call it Quits in the UT99 community! :o
They will still be around but all of there sites and forums are going away very soon!
UT99.net has many good files - Download them quick!!!

EDIT: I called him last night.
Gopo is Archiving all of his UT stuff (files and mods and such) if anybody needs them.
He is mainly just taking a breather and stepping out of UT and not "Actively" participating, but he will be around to answer questions, help out in any way he can.
Even some coding projects are not out of the question. :P

Gopo will remain a member here at HUTP and will be "On Hand" to answer questions and or help out.
He will also finish up some of these unfinished Redeemer projects currently on the slate.

I am sure he will remain a member and On Hand here at Hermskii's forum also. :wink:

Hey that gopo character can't quit on me...I'm clueless, incompetent and somewhat of a idiot when it
comes to UT...especially running my server. And what about all the other nincompoops out there always
asking gopo for help...what are they going to do?
Nope...sorry gopo...you ain't leaving... :|

But on a serious note:
If and when gopo, TheDane, Hermskii...(those of talent and love for this aging game) start to question
their place in the UT community then we're in trouble. These are the guys that keep me going...keep us going.
These are the guys we look to for help and guidance. And in my opinion these are the guys that hold the key
to the future for UT99.
But on the other hand life goes on and we all move on.
If gopo decides to pickup needle point I'll understand and I'll be happy for him.
I have nothing but respect for gopo and I can't thank him enough for all his help over the years.

The good thing about UT is that it's so easy to setup.

2 people, what a loss big woop... just get on with it, we still have many people in this place for UT, and besides even if UT99 dies we got UT2004, and i am sure monster hunt could be invented.

Hello Chef. I too spoke with GOPO and knew he was planning on stepping out for a little bit. He, like I has a busy life. Family has to always come first.

I have heard of TheDane for years and may have encountered this person in passing at some point but can't speak of it being I don't recall. I've heard great things about him.

GOPO on the other hand has single handedly brought more to this UT community than every other member combined! If that isn't amazing enough to you, he is still a diamond in the rough.

I hounded GOPO the entire time to slow down but it just isn't in his nature. He's burned himself out and knows he needs to catch his breath and bring focus back to what is most important which is his family. I say good for him and good for his family. My feeling is that he will come back as soon as he is ready. I know he is always welcome here and so does he.

His OLD site is still disappearing because it was hacked.
He will be setting up a new site and/or forums soon. :P

OK - I just noticed that this thread hasn't been updated and is inaccurate now.

The GOOD News...
OK - Gopostal (aka Gopo) IS still in UT99 but now he is mainly into Developing for UT99 now. :P
He has a new (NO BS - No Nonsense tollerated) UT Development site also.

TheDANE has pulled the plug and has now decided to bow out of UT.
