Well I missed the 2 or 3 hour introductory episode on CBS broadcast TV, assuming that they did actually broadcast it. A Canadian station broadcast it, but their signal was unwatchable.
So what did I miss?
I was able to watch episode one, and was wondering just wtf CBS was talking about how it would be available on "CBS All Access". I did not realize that they meant exclusively. So it looks like it will be fun, but as I am in Canada (pay to watch streaming isn't supposed to cross the border, although many Canadians "spoof" a US IP in order to watch it cheaper than the local price) and without internet access, I don't see how I could watch it anyway. -Not to mention of course that I'll be damned before I'll ever pay to watch TV.
I checked out CBS' lame excuse that "Science fiction doesn't pay to be on broadcast TV. "
Lmao, yeah right: Star Trek, Star Trek Next Generation, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek Voyager.
Bah!

Re: Star Trek Discovery
The "exclusive" was announced months ago, so that wasn't new for me. Also the site I goto to download TV shows I miss happens to be stockpiling the episodes, so I was covered there.

Re: Star Trek Discovery
I saw both of them and they were very well done. I saw the first one TV and watched the 2nd online. This is almost if not right at movie quality.

Re: Star Trek Discovery
Complaint I heard a lot before the series came out was the Klingons look weird.
Just seemed bald to me.
Only complaint I've really heard since it came out is many aren't fond of the uniforms.
I don't really have an opinion there, though the added metal bits are rather shiny.

Re: Star Trek Discovery
Yes, lots of little things are different but there are lots of old sounds and other things that stayed true to Star Trek. I would have to give it a perfect score actually but the subtitles aren't built in to the original video and are hard to make appear when viewing a streamed recording through a blueray player.
It will fail because it is all access only. Stupid.
If they put this on regular TV it would make it IMHO.
On another note, anyone watch Seth Macfarlands new show called Orville? I am very impressed with it so far. It is a 70/30 cross of Start Trek and Family Guy. I'm serious and it is very good so far too. Parts of it are very funny!

I fear you are correct that it will fail because there are lots of people who don't have fast internet. Like, just about everyone who lives outside of a city.Hermskii wrote:

One can only hope they smarten up and put it onto broadcast tv.
I have watched the Orville and liked it a lot. It is very star trek like, and very humorous. It will fill my needs for outer space scify quite nicely. If CBS does put star trek back on broadcast, I hope they don't put it up against the Orville.

Re: Star Trek Discovery
As long as there are Trekkies, this show will not fail.
I don't watch the episodes online, I download them.
My mom likes it too but she doesn't bother with streaming it. So I bring her episodes when I visit.
Nice thing about the All Access is that it doesn't have the normal censoring limits normal television does. The characters can swear!
