MHM...hello

Post by MEAT » Sat May 09, 2009 9:29 pm

It's lonely playing Redeemer by myself but at the same time I find it
difficult maneuvering through MHM maps that I don't know.
Is there any advice/strategy when tackling a MHM map?
Some maps are easy to figure but others...but others?

The problem is MH maps are quite different, there's not a general rule or a best way to play them. The best thing to do is trying to play off-line, unfortunately only a limited amount of MH maps have bot support, so you can't put your trust in bots.
Anyway I think there are three main categories of MH maps:

1 - Bunny Track Monster Hunt maps, where you have to jump/dodge a lot in order to pass through many obstacles and finally reach the end (for example MH-Hebereke);

2 - Assault Monster Hunt maps, where you have to successfully complete a list of objectives before your goal is achieved, and they're often conversions of pre-existing Assault maps (for example MH-Canyon-Revamp)

3 - Unreal1/Coop like Monster Hunt maps, where you simply have to face monsters following one main route or some alternative routes (for example MH-LandsOfNapali)

Any other MH maps are a mixture of the previous types.

You can't kill other players on MHM other than knocking them off into lava or down to their death on rocks far below etc etc.

POTS is right. MH maps are all different. The original 5 or so are how it was supposed to played but then it was enhanced over time and traditional rules fell to the side. Now newer and better mappers are coming along and realized that they way to build them is based on the original method. They still have cool new stuff in them but fall along the lines of the original idea enough to keep people playing them

My best suggestion to play any MH server that has Nameless on it. He'll show you around and teach you better than anyone I think. He tought me well enough. If you find him chase other players and do what they do. You can learn like that too. Try chatting in game with questions etc etc.

If you'd like to kill human players you should try Team Monster Hunt... Be careful though, whiners don't like to be killed because they think players on different teams should cooperate.

He he remember the Team monster hunt mod MEAT? the one kort had on her server for a while? Well you can kill monsters AS WELL AS the other team, lots of fun....

Weird that you post this because on the contrary ive been trying alot more Redeemer lately, think i hopped on your server twice today, klownz once, cg once and crossbones once although the map usually ends in 3 frags and 40 deaths for me.

Working as a team can make MH a lot more fun, although pots is right when he says that there is no set way in playing the gametype.
Dont rush through it is the best advice i can give. Play smart, no need to go in guns blazing all the time, sometimes using the sniper is the best technique.
and never take all the scubas.....

Played with him the past few nights, this is very true, its sort of how your server adds work meat. "Seek help from the guy beating you" or something similar right? Its pretty true on MH. Plus they may show you where your fav weapon is, because it usually hides on MH.....
