Learning Curve....
Come on somebody step up.
I can name 10 regulars right now that have more then a years experience playing this game redeemer
and they still play like newbies.
Why is that?
The only player that has advanced in a small amount of time is Killer_Klownz...everyone else has stalled.
And I see the same players day after day playing redeemer but they still sit idle.
Why is it that they can't move forward and play better?
I preach, I show people shot cuts and hiding places but no one is moving forward.
And it's the same people that play everyday.....
Hello...the maps are still the same...learn how to play them.
Does anybody have an answer for my frustration?

Because all they care about is winning. That leads to either camping spraying at spawn points/bot paths or sitting in a little room on the map and launching redeemers out at spawn points/bot paths. No skill needed for that. I can count on one hand players that will move all over a map during a game. People don't want to get better, they see no need. They are afraid to move about. They have their favorite maps with their favorite spots. They'll move to that spot and spray away. Whats to improve upon with that? I got more respect for someone who can telefrag me than get me because they sprayed all over the place. It's skill vs luck . . . .
Evil is obvious only in retrospect.

Well that is a true statement and yes I could probably name a handfull of regulars that still do that.Killer Klownz wrote:They have their favorite maps with their favorite spots. Hard to learn a map when sitting idle...unless it's a very special spot...

The question is: Does Meat connect to his own server via the internet? Or does he play directly off of it?
As to why some never improve, Killer Klownz makes a valid point. Some don't need to get better to win, because they have their favourite maps and their favourite spots in those maps. Don Don is a perfect example of this. He can be tough to beat in DM-Dogtown, but on the rare occasions he sticks around on a new to him map, he can be beaten fairly easily.
There's also the situation of those like the nameless entity, who never improves anymore because:
a)He just doesn't have the right kind of brain power, or the quick reflexes needed to get any better.
b)He doesn't have the hardware or bandwidth to get his ping low enough to have a decent chance anyway.
c)He just cannot get himself to actually care about "winning the map" any more.
d)One good/difficult telefrag is worth 30 spawnkills any day.

I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

I currently have four installations of UT on my computer.a nameless entity wrote:The question is: Does Meat connect to his own server via the internet? Or does he play directly off of it?
Server--Player--Practice--Redirects/compress files.
-My server is obviously what you see and play on.
-My player is how I connect to play UT.
-Practice is used to try new maps/mods and whatever.
-And the four installation is used for compressing files.
When building my server, years ago, Hermskii told me to never
connect via my server...it will crash. And he was right...lol
When I play UT I connect through my players install.
But I found that the connection is better if I play on
my wives newer PC in the other room.
But as for me connecting through my server....I don't.
Not sure if anyone with a server does?
The DonDons of the UT world are not tough and are actually the easiest to beata nameless entity wrote:Some don't need to get better to win, because they have their favourite maps and their favourite spots in those maps. Don Don is a perfect example of this. He can be tough to beat in DM-Dogtown.
because they never move from there favorite spots.
Find the spot and find them telefragged.
However I do agree that a number of maps do favor or play better when hiding.
Those are the maps that you'll never see me because I'm Hiding and Guiding.
And trust me, my hidden spots are not DonDon spots...my spots are hard to find.
Valid point....and one of the best players out there is Killer_Klownz because he does use instincts.a nameless entity wrote:There's also the situation of those like the nameless entity, who never improves anymore because:

Players should learn from him...however I do question his hiding ability...lol

Ah ping... I took a look at MEAT's server last Sunday and I had like 300 ping... My redeemers were shot a second later than normal. It took me a while to avoid suiciding my own butt...a nameless entity wrote: b)He doesn't have the hardware or bandwidth to get his ping low enough to have a decent chance anyway.
Well Killer Klownz was there too, he probably was the only one using translocator to move faster around the map. That's skill!
P.S. Hey MEAT was I drunk or does a telefrag on your server score double???

So what your saying is that fighting it out by running around in the middle of the room like the Klownz did in JagCell3 is not hiding? Damn . . . .MEAT wrote:Killer_Klownz because he does use instincts. Players should learn from him...however I do question his hiding ability...lol

This will encourage telefraggers...MEAT wrote:I am drunk and yes they do score double...2 points.*POTS* wrote: Hey MEAT was I drunk or does a telefrag on your server score double???
You get a bonus for getting up close and personal.
And I think Killer_Klownz has the same type setup on his server.

It isn't the two points you get, not at all. It's the wonderful sound you get when you telefrag someone. That great body parts flying up and hitting the ground sound. Sickly yet sweet. Music to the Klownz ears. That's how Klownz free's your soul . . . . the telefrag . . . . and know this, Klownz will set you free . . . . . it's inevitable . . . .

Telefragging is not for the faint of heart and does require courage and cunning.*POTS* wrote:This will encourage telefraggers...
Many have tried but most have failed.
And only a selected few can call themselves true Telefraggers.
