Hey everyone,
Since my PC rebuild when I go to play UT I keep getting this error message. It doesn't matter if I'm on Meats, CG or VH. If anyone can help me, please post...here is the error message..
"Failed blt: DD_OK
History: UD 3DRenderDevice: Set Texture <-UD3DRenderDevice::DrawComplexSurface <-URender::DrawFrame <-UD3DRenderDevice::EndFlash <-UGameEngine::Draw <-UWindowsViewport::Repaint <-UWindowsClient::Tick <-ClientTick <-UGameEngine:: Tick <-UpdateWorld <-MainLoop
Then it has an OK button.
When I had the HD and the OS re-installed, I'm using the same video card as before, and had no problems.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Frustrated ELvis
HELP!!

Yeah, you know the screen you get when you fire up a new install where it asks you if you want to use D3D or (I think) Software Rendering? Select use other drivers or something and you'll see oGL pop up as a choice.
You can also get to this menu by starting the game and finding the "Change video device" button in the settings menus (look around, you'll find it).
If you google, you'll find you can force oGL by altering the ini, but that's a bad idea. Try letting the game set things up for you.

What
What is all of this? Elvis, what type of card are you using? You say it worked fine before? Did you reinstall UT cleanly or did you copy back an existing copy of UT back on to the new hard drive?
Scotty, what is your OpenGL? How is it different than any other please?
Elvis, here is a set of instructions from my how to manual. Note that this is a different OpenGL renderer than the one Scotty suggest and I can't tell you since I don't know which one is better to use but these directions will work no matter which one you use. Also, I don't think that switching to OpenGL is a fix for a card that worked before with D3D and now it doesn't work with D3D. I think your problems are in the UT installation actually.
How to use the OpenGL Renderer:
(Print these instructions if you can)
OpenGL is a rendering method your video card may be able to use to give you slightly better graphics in the game. Most semi modern cards can or do have this ability. It may be to your advantage to try the UT in this mode. If you want to give it a shot, just follow the directions below.
1. Go to your C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
2. Rename the file called OpenGLDrv.dll to OpenGLDrvOriginal.dll
3. Go to this link and download this zip file to your computer:
http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/utglr28.zip
4. Unzip the file and copy the OpenGLDrv.dll to your
C:\UnrealTournament\System folder.
5. Start the game and from the UT Desktop select options.
6. Select Preferences.
7. On the Video tab, select the Video Driver "Change" button.
8. A “Change Video Driver” option window will open. Select “Yes”.
9. The “Unreal Tournament Video Configuration” window will open.
10. Click the radius for “Show all devices”.
11. Highlight “OpenGL Support”.
12. Select “Next”.
13. Select “Next” again.
14. Select “Run”.
Done!
Restart the game again when you get a chance. Notice that the precaching message is gone now. The game starts faster and the music doesn't keep playing when you shut down the game if you play it on a Windows XP computer.
If I were you, I'd get my how to manual at:
http://hermskii.ipower.com/page6.html
and do everything all the way through Chapter three. I bet your video card will run better than ever before if you do. Someone did find a path error in the instruction set so do pay attention to it and point it out to me if you come across it. I need to fix it. Let us know how it goes. CYA!

Re: What
Mine is streamlined to run UT. A lot of the oGL wrappers are written to be all-inclusive, which is OK, but I wanted the "fluff" taken out. In the end, it's a little bit faster, that's really all.Hermskii wrote: Scotty, what is your OpenGL? How is it different than any other please?
