Upgrade
OK folks, it is about time for me to upgrade this bad boy to get it ready to be moved someday soon. I'm moving this on up to version 3 of PHPBB. I hope it works and that nobody gets nuked. I will back it u before I try so don't worry.
~Peace~

One of those very good looking babies!
PS: Hermskii, if you need any help on the phpBB3 version, I have delved a bit into the version 3 myself.
I had a few experimental phpBB3 forums during the past year.
I am holding off on upgrading for now, but will probably when the time seems right to me.

Re: Thanks
Yeah, the portal mod.Hermskii wrote:Thanks Hook. I must ask; what is your hold up? Are you worried about the mods you have? I only have one which is the registration page to prevent spammers from joining and posting.
And it cannot support html, of which I have alot of on my forum.
No extra pages either - another mod.

I got too many sticks in the fire right now, but upgrading is in the back of my mind.
I will have to re-do my whole setup!

OK
OK, I started trying to do this upgrade from phpBB 2.0.22 to phpBB 3.02 and it is more than I understand.
Here is where I'm stuck. I have copied the files up to my webspace for the new phpBB 3.02 that I want to convert to. I went o the install part and am on pge 2 qhere it is telling me about whether my database is ready or not. Every checks off as ready except these two things:
PHP setting register_globals is disabled:
phpBB will still run if this setting is enabled, but if possible, it is recommended that register_globals is disabled on your PHP install for security reasons. No
PHP setting allow_url_fopen is enabled:
Optional - This setting is optional, however certain phpBB functions like off-site avatars will not work properly without it. No
So I need to set both of these to be "Yes" somehow. Now what do I do in order to do that? Thanks.

Ok, 1st off, why would you want to actually say yes to the 1st one when it's not advisable to set to yes?
For more on it, look here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 7&t=527946 & http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Programmin ... er_Globals
Both could be done though in the php.ini (as said here also: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &p=6412225 ).

Yes
As I went through the program to upgrade to 3.02 it said to have certain things set a certain way first. Mine is actually set to yes right now and it is supposed to be set to no I'm guessing. The php.ini does not exist in my system at all so I'll have to make it but even making it seemed too much for me. I'll re-review and try again.
