What happens is: If I try to post from my local library (which uses the Firefox browser) or my brother's family PC (he uses Internet Explorer) I can get caught in a never ending loop of login requests.
Let's say I'm at the library, checking to see if I got an answer to a thread I started in this forum from home. I see an answer to my question, so I go to post a reply. I type my message, and then hit the submit button. The first thing that happens is that I see the login screen so that I may go ahead and post. So I log in. Then the browser asks me if I want it to remember my password. Of course I do not want that on a public PC, so being in Firefox, I would pick "not now". So now that I am logged in, instead of being returned to my reply screen, I get a new one that is blank. (And this happens with either browser, so it's not a browser issue.) If I use the back button and copy my text into the new screen OR if I try to submit from the old window now that I am logged in, instead of getting my message posted all that happens is that I am returned to the login screen AGAIN.
I can repeat this process several times, but it does not matter what I try, or how I try it, the ONLY way to get this forum to accept my message is to let the browser "remember" my password. That is OK at my brother's place, but definitely NOT at the library!
The problem I describe is unique to this forum. And come to think of it, whenever Firefox has done a major update to itself, or I accidentally wipe ALL of the cookies from my browsers, I can get this problem from home too, until I let the browser remember my password.
The important question Herm and I wish to have answered is: Has this been happening to anyone else?
