I feel at times I'm picking up new techniques and making some improvements.
Heck, I'm killing MEAT once in a while!
But every NOW & THEN.....
I just get my A$$ handed to me.
Seems like some players' missiles have an ultra wide blast-radius.
I see a blast a block away and still, I get killed.
On the flip side, I am sure I killed that last player: I landed my bomb right up their wazoo. No kill. Say what???
So, I see players getting busted on other sites. My question is do some players use cheats (high health, armor, bigger bombs) and are they ever detected?
Just wondering

Lag
It is likely that it is lag. Cheats are possible too yet doubtful. Nameless Entity has reviewed this more than anyone I know. Maybe he will chime in here. I feel the same way myself sometimes. I'd swear I'm far enough away not to die from the explosion and yet I still die.
~Peace~

All damage is dealt with server side. Explosion radius, etc too. All the client does is send "I shot this weapon at this point at this time." The server does all the calculations and sends back to the client "You were hit and lost this much health." If you try to spoof your health client side the server simply ignores it and tallies it for you.
Now that's not to say you can't do certain things, but by and far you are limited to artificial aiming, radars and anything controlled client side.

Blast radius is tallied funny in UT. We've all been standing right next to a closed door and taken damage from a monster shot hitting the door on the other side. It's not a cheat, it's a flaw in the bsp blocking of the damage radius. It's an educated guess on my part but I think Epic probably skipped a bit on calculating deeply into architecture blocking of damage because the physics of it are pretty in-depth and would slow the server.
