When the Master Servers for UT are Gone?

When we play UT online, there are "Master Servers" that our UT game connects to to poll or to find out what UT Game Servers are currently up & running out on the internet.
Our UT game then displays all the running UT game servers on our multi-player menu tabbed by game type.
There were originally 3 master servers that the UT game queried, then one of those 3 shut down or quit functioning as a UT master server.
Hermskii of "House of Hermskii" who runs several fun UT game servers such as CG (Curious Georges Redeemer Insanity) and MHM (MonsterHunt Mayhem) and whom also currently hosts our Re-Directs, has replaced that defunct UT master server that quit with another one at Qtracker.
Here is a copy of the line Hermskii now uses:

ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.qtracker.com MasterServerPort=27900

This is all very good, but my question is ...
What will happen when all of the UT Master Servers quit doing what they do?
Will someone be able to put up another one? Maybe UTPG will, or Hermskii, or UT99.org or even Hook's UT Place?
I would imagine that we could still connect with servers, directly, and by using "open location"!?!?
Maybe even have UT sites with lists of servers running and their IP addresses!?!?

Just some questions and thoughts about the UT Master Servers.

Great question. I wish I knew the answer. I think I asked this before on a different forum a long time ago and was told not to worry. If I recall, there would be others that can provide master servers and the info we need to connect to them.

The one master server that is no longer belonged to MPlayer. They went out of business. I lucked out and found this other one I added to my server.ini file as you mentioned above. Usually peeps avoid this line of questioning like the plague for some reason.

Lets not post that exact question on any other forums either. The think I'd be trying to hide here is that I host several servers. If to many peeps find out they will all be asking me for stuff all of the time. I don't mind helping the peeps here because they are part of what keeps the game alive for us and our interest. I don't want to host somebody who just wants to run a DM or CTF server. Redeemer Mods and MonsterHunt are the only things I care about here. I will repost a similar question to this one online and we'll see what we get back ok? CYA!

Old DOS games...

Hmmmm.....the only one I played back then was called Warlords. I played it exclusively for about 2 years. It was a DOS based RPG game that I was SOOOOO addicted to! Then came Doom and Heritic and finally UT.

Good luck with your DOS game efforts. They are getting harder and harder to play on newer computers.

You can add this into our server ini also correct?

You can delete anything that says MPlayer, because the master server no longer exists.

When all of them are down we can still Rendezvous by posting the ips on forums and open location join.

Yeah, that makes me feel much better K

I kinda thought there may be other sites also that will have masterservers when these we have now die out.
But even so we will prevail with server listings and the like!
