That totally sux. I'm wishing I had a backup of my phone right now if that makes you feel any better.

A forensic lab?? Nooo.. there are companies you can send your drive too for recovery in case of controller malfunction. Basically what they do is dis-assemble the drive in a clean room environment and the platter is processed in a machine to read the data. Its not going to be cheap either but recovering a project you've been working for months on would be worth the cost. I would google Hard Drive Recovery Services and see what options you have. For now, I would handle the drive carefully and not spin it up any more to prevent any additional damage to the disk surface.

Yes, Sir Mandrake brings up a good point.
There are also Local shops that perform this service you may even be able to bring it to.
