Time out!

Post by Hermskii » Sat Apr 28, 2012 10:47 am

My wife got mad at my boys this morning because the were playing with Transformer figures. They were fighting against each other with them. That upset my wife and she got on to them to stop fighting each other with the figures and she was actually mad they were fighting.

I stopped her and said they were boys and it was OK by me for them to fight each other in this manner. She disagreed. I also then invited her to continue trying to stop them from engaging in this behavior. LOL

Here is the the question / statement: What are you thoughts about her trying to stop two young boys from play fighting with transformer action figures? I think they should be able to and I think it nearly impossible to stop it. I support the boys using their imagination in this fashion as I did as a young boy in some manner. I would hate to think of my boys growing up and not being able to play in this exact fashion.

Your thoughts? I may share your responses with my wife. I likely will even if they go against my own beliefs. I am curious though to know what many of you think about this.
~Peace~

I saw a young mother with her 3 kids at the library the other day. Two were in a stroller, and the oldest, a boy, was running free. He was wearing a bicycle helmet. Now unless he has a medical condition that makes him liable to fall down, I think that that is just totally nuts. How can he learn to play safely if he is molly coddled in this fashion? Let him fall down and get his boo boo's.
I'm all for letting kids walk home by themselves from the bus stop after school, too. This over protection where the kids are always supervised every minute of every day is going to backfire somehow, some day. Let kids be kids!
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess
