Can't Get Into the BIOS Screen

Post by David » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:18 am

Alright.......

Yesterday I spent a long while trying to get into the BIOS screen but was unable. To make a long story short, after I startup my computer and I press "the button" to get into BIOS but no luck. Windows loads up and I need to shut it down again and restart it again to try again. Well which "the button" did I press, I tried them all, at least F1 through F12, Esc, and Delete buttons.

I even cleared the cmos by the connector on the motherboard to see if that would help me, but no.

Today I looked at the manual for my motherboard and it states the "delete" is supposed to get me into the BIOS but it does not.....?????????????????

OK..Nevermind. After I posted this, and after of 2 days of scratching my graying head, I tried to eliminate possible hurdles. I know from the motherboard manual that "the button" is the delete button, so I thought maybe the signal of the delete button was not getting the computer fast enough before boot-up. So I looked and I saw that my keyboard was plugged into an USB PCI card, so I then moved my keyboard to the USB connection on the motherboard itself and gave that a try and that FIXED the issue. I am now able to get into BIOS. Yea!! ok small victory but still a victory.

I had an issue like that forever ago. It is one bad thing about a new USB keyboard on a old computer. the drivers for the keyboard don't activate before the BIOS screen runs. Thus, you get what happened to you. You can't get into your BIOS. It is ever worse on wireless USB keyboards. That is the main reason I refuse to use a wireless mouse or keyboard anymore.
