Re: Vent thread
Well, again I need to "vent", express myself. A co-worker and I toss in a dollar a week for a power ball ticket. I know that there really is not a chance to win, but some may say that you need a little glimmer of hope or light (even though if the light is really non-existent) at the end of the tunnel.
Anyway, my deal with this is when I check the power ball ticket, I use the small power ball reader, the machine that scans your ticket and lets you know if you won anything. Well when I do it reads or displays "YOUR NOT A WINNER"
This is not reassuring. I have a wife and two beautiful kids, I think I am doing OK but this darn machine tells me once a week "YOUR NOT A WINNER" For a world that is so PC (political correct), even to the point of stupidity, this is glimmer of light I want at the end of the tunnel.

Handicap license plated vehicles. Do you think that people have these so they can park near the doors of businesses? I do not think so. I think that is just an added bonus.
Have you seen the how the people drive those vehicles with handicap license plate. Really they are not handicap, except for in the brain, but they will cause you to be handicap when they are done with you with their driving.
Part of my job is driving and so I see a lot of these people. They also feel that the whole road and all parking spaces belong to them....
P.S. I can speak about this, my mother is one of these subjects with the handicap license plate. I love her, but do not want in the same vehicle that she is driving.

You're lucky they haven't made special parking lots for pregnant ladies yet.
I'm not kidding, in my (funky?) town there are special parking spaces whose sign is a stork carrying a baby. Hopefully it's just a courtesy-sign...

Yeah I got a mom with one of those handicap license plates...she also has one
of those handicap stickers hanger from her rear view mirror.
And I understand the purpose of the sticker but I hate when I see people
driving with the sticker hanging from their mirrors...talk about being handicapped
it's blocking half of your view!
Take the damn thing down when you're driving and pull it
out and put it up when you're parked.
My other vent is:
We have an annual golf tournament where I work..."The Pebble Beach Invitiational".
It's kind of a big deal...you might have seen it on TV. Anyway for parking
they give employees those funny looking stickers for the rear view mirror.
And again, they block your view when driving...so I refuse to hang it when I'm driving.
Anyway, last tournament I had a traffic officer tell me to put up my sticker.
I said "no...it blocks my view when driving". He made me pull over and demanded
I put up my sticker or I would be cited. I said "what if I hit and injury one of the
100,000 spectators that are walking on the streets trying to go the the tournament".
"Whose going to be responsible for that?" He said "put up the sticker and drive slow".
I said "bullshitt". He calls over his boss (Capt) and I again said no..."I won't put it up until
I'm parked. It's dangerous driving while this thing is blocking my view....there are people
walking everywhere. Anyway, it's visible on my dash and it's not needed until I'm parked".
My point was valid so the Capt let be proceed...

trying to find a certain USB Cable
My wife has gone through some laptop cooler pads...Darn cheap plastic, anyways; we have one that is not broken but the usb cable that connects the cooler pad to the lap is broken. The cable is usb and the other end is a power connector, as shown in the picture.

I can seem to find the cable on-line. A problem that I think I have I do not know what to call the type of cable for the google search. Any ideas or suggestions?

I feel your pain, David.
So much cheap junk that breaks in the computer business.
I would take a stab at calling that a USB / DC cable.
Can you maybe find a typical AC/DC converter to match the input voltage?

Re: Vent thread
I just had blown insulation put into my attic. The reason is because I had only an R11 value and I was advised that I should have at least R30. So I had an R45 blown into my attic. There is one part of the attic that is narrow and it was difficult for the insulation people to blow the insulation into this area but they got it done, at least they tried their "best".
The next day I was talking to the main person of the insulation company advising him that one of the workers forgot their hammer at my house and he asked how it went. I then spoke to him about the comment of trying their best at that part of the attic. He then claimed that they were not planning on doing that part of the attic and said "Merry Christmas" to me.
WHAT? insert you own swear word here
. I do not consider it "Merry Christmas" because when he measured the attic space he measured that part of the attic and I PAID FOR IT.
I hate it when someone tries to pass off something and try to make it sound like they are doing you a favor. Go and get bent I say.
Honesty and good customer service are endangered animals these days.

Re: Vent thread
Well, with money being a less then abundant item in my family, I am trying to make things last longer. My car, which has been a good car, was needing a new radiator and condenser due to something denting the crap out of it a while back. I have known about it for some time but it was not leaking, at least not that you can tell. The condenser was so pinched, you could not charge the A/C system fully because of unsafe pressure. So, we want to make the car last so I ordered a new radiator and condenser, and will be putting them in. When my wife and I were doing some errands, the car stalled and would not restart. Checked the fuel filter and all the connectors but it was not getting fuel. So we towed my car back to my house with my truck I figured out that the fuel pump (which is in the tank) was not working. So I had to go and order a fuel pump. The store did not have it in stock. So I dropped the tank and got all the work that I could get done done. Went back to the store the next day to pick up the pump and the delivery truck dropped off the wrong load. I had to wait until the truck could come back.
But it did come back and I was able to replace the pump and put back the tank and it did start. It is not the easiest job to do with one person.
So there was $300 (fuel pump) that went bye bye in addition to $400 or so in the radiator and condenser and install. I hate to complain, but that is what this thread is about.
But I can say that I am grateful that the car is up and running. Thank you.

Re: Vent thread
Oh, I forgot.....my electricity was out when I got up this morning and was off pretty much all morning. So the store didn't have my pump, I couldn't play Monster Hunt, so I had to sit there and wait. But the power did come back on and the part did come in. Everything's is now working. (knocking on wood). Did I mentioned my car's value is between $1100-$1700, but I can not afford a car payment at this time so I need to settle with the $700 for repairs.
But.....now I have to go to work.
Yea.... what a wonderful weekend. But I am grateful that things did work out, I just got to pay for it now.
