Well it can get confusing. Your printer has been superseded by the WorkForce 520 Model. I'm not sure which one it's the most similar to of the line I bought. It has a different fax document feeder, and a different control panel. I didn't realize Epson has so many models. I bought mine simply by the price point, and was glad I didn't buy the simpler NX420 for only $10 less a few months ago. I think I got a really nice deal. If they all use the same inks, then print wise they're all good. It's the ink. Like you said, choose by what you want it to do. (Just keep your choice limited to Epsons. It's the ink, I say! ;) )

I took photography in college in '74-'75. A couple of months into 2nd year I had to drop out due to ill health. At first I planned to go back, but after I got out of the hospital later on, my plans were different. I still have an interest. Last year for fun I looked into the photography program at my old alma mater. It's completely digital now. So no picking up where I left off, or anything like that. ;)

I looked at my two prints again tonight. Under the yellowish light of curly fluorescents, the 2200 print looks best. Under a 150 watt incandescent bulb which has a little more blue light in its output, the 2200 print still looked better, but the skin tones were less rich looking. Under a "daylight" curly fluorescent, the skin tones were weaker still, but still looked ok.

It was an overcast day this morning when I compared the prints by window light. So that would make the light even bluer than that of a sunny day. I recall that an average sunny day has around a 5000K colour temperature.

I am wondering what it is about the 2200's print dyes that make them appear so weak in blue light. :?
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

Too late, I already got a HP Officejet 4500 for Christmas.
It's multipurpose and supports printing, scanning and even fax (haven't configured the latter yet, though).

The installation CD didn't work at all so I had to download the drivers and the rest from their website, their Smart Web Printing tool doesn't support Firefox and other browsers than Internet Explorer it seems, plus one of the two cartridges wasn't inserted properly and all of the printed document using both colors and black had an annoying shading effect. After messing with it for some time I figured out that was the problem, and reinserted the cartridge until I heard a "clank" sound of the spring holding it. :|

As for the quality of printings, I'm not sure since I used plain A4 format white paper, but at the highest resolution and settings it doesn't look bad. Maybe the colors are a tad bit biased towards the yellow, but since I have a fluorescent neon tube in this room, I'm not sure. Will have to check it out I guess.
