Here's another example of stuff that happens right around here and the guilty will walk.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ds-newsxml

It's people like this that make me glad we still have the death penalty here in Texas. I'd never let anyone be killed unless there was solid video evidence of them doing a crime like this. Can you imagine how much we will pay in leagal fees over the next 5 - 10 years while we both prosecute and defend these losers? We have to pay to keep them in jail the whole time too. This is almost 30 people and the list grows daily!

This makes me so mad! What gives with the little girl? At least she told somebody! Good for her! This is a quick 30 rapists of our streets!

Why is it always that I am the first one who calls my internet provider, Cableone, and state that there are issues with the internet service, such as going down or other issues.

The "tech" on the phone walks you through the same routine each time.....what lights are flashing on your modem, what modem do you have, do you have a router plugged into your modem, do you a direct line from the wall to your modem or do you have a splitter,.....etc.... Then a lot of the time they claim that they have no issues on their end but it is on my end so they will have to schedule a field tech come to my house and check the signal.........

Anyway, this happened to me last week. It has happened many times before but this example proves why I dislike my ISP.

Last week, I was taking a walk on the internet, nothing big, but then the internet went out. I waited for some time to see if it would come back up like it does in most situations, but it did not this time. I did a power cycle on my modem, router, and computer. It still did not come back up. I called the “tech line”. The “tech” went through the above mentioned steps and then told me that they have no issues on their end but it is on my end so they will have to schedule a field tech come to my house and check the signal. I advised the tech I have had field techs come to my house in the past and they state that the issues s on their end and my setup is fine. BUT NO,… a tech was scheduled to come the next day. The tech was unable to come this day because they were already scheduled for the day, note this was around 10am.

A short time later, I received a call from a co-worker who was at work and informed that internet was down at work. I later learned that the whole city and area was down. I was informed that the internet was down in a couple nearby cities because a fiber line was cut in a city about 1.5 hours away.

I called the tech line later that day and spoke to a different tech. She confirmed that the issue was on their end.

I had to call the tech line today and inform them that the service was being intermittent. I informed that my equipment was fine and I wanted just inform them that there might be an issue on their end and that I did not want to go through their steps, and I reminded them about last weeks event.

I would switch provider, but we only have two providers and sad to say, Cableone is better then Frontier. I have a co-worker and some of my wife’s family is with frontier and they hate it.

Yeah, I have heard a lot of horror stories about Frontier.
I have Frontier, but so far they have been pretty darn reliable, where I live anyway.
The only "beef" I have with them is they never upgrade the speed of their DSL.
It has been the same slow speed since I started with them about 6 years ago. :|
Everyone else keeps getting their speed upped, but not us frontier chickens!

Vent Thread...

It burns me up that Obama is still trying to prosecute the CIA guys who water-boarded the war time detainees that did end up giving up the info we needed in order to catch OBL.

He is an idiot.

Minor vent.....

I was cruising on Netflix to see what movies to watch instantly...and I came across this
Battle of Los Angeles.jpg
I was thinking, cool I could watch this... I have seen the trailers on TV and it looked like there is some action. But then when I was reading reviews, I was enlightened and discovered that this movie is not the one I have been seeing trailers for. This is a cheap copy of it.

The real one is this one.
Battle Los Angeles.jpg
It is like the movies of "Tranformers" and the cheap knock off titled "Transmorphers"
No original ideas anymore.

One thing I can tell you IMO...
If the Cheap Knock-Off is even Half as good as the Original - SEE it!
I saw the Original in the theaters and it was very good - LOTS of action the whole time.

I heard the right one was good. I want to see it. They didn't have commercials for it long enough for me and my boy to recall to go see it. Now I have to wait for NetFlix. Good catch on the fake movie name thing David. Thanks. I would have fallen for it!

I wish I had better options for ISP.. My choices here in this town is Cableone (cable internet), Frontier (DSL), or dial-up. Cableone is the fastest and is what I have but they have ISSUES.

For the past days (Monday and Tuesday), I was able to check my email and send email but I could not visit most, almost all websites. It would act as if there was no internet connection. On Monday, I spent 80 minutes talking to a tech on the phone jumping through hoops and doing traceroutes. I was the test rat for my area. They stated that they obtained information from other areas that were having the issues so I was doing things for them so they can gather information.

I would post the traceroutes here to show what was going on, but I am unsure if it is safe to do so (meaning if I post the traceroutes would it be placing too much information out there/security risk?)

It is Wednesday and things seemed to be working better. I pay good money for my internet service, I expect to get the service I pay for.

Windows 7.... media player.

I HATE the fact that I can not scan for media like you were able to do on previous Windows Media Player versions.

I just downloaded some music to my wife's laptop, which has Windows 7 media player. It (media player) "monitors" the music folder so when music is added, it is supposedly updates the media player library, but it has not. I was playing the music from the music folder on media player, so it plays the music but just will not add it to the library...Frustrating

Why make changes when it is not broken...

Good vent. I had not noticed that yet. I don't do too much media stuff anyways though. Research it more. I'm sure it does it somehow. Maybe the feature is just disabled by default now.

Found the answer..."This problem occurs because the Windows Media Player library database has become corrupted." The answer is sweet and easy.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 38ba4167a5
It fixed the issue. Thank goodness for the ability to google.
