For me it is when you start getting nail salons and especially check cashing places that you are doomed. Also those mobile cookery taco trucks. If they set up shop you are doomed. We hardly have any stores my my house now with English names. they are all Spanish or Chinese. Metro is another killer of neighborhoods along with apartments.

What is this "Metro" you refer to?

And you're right, I forgot to mention the two cheque cashing places that are on the street now. But still only one beauty salon I think. There used to be 3 banks on the street, but those disappeared in the 90's when all of the banks decided to downsize the human side of their businesses.
But a credit union has reappeared mid street. That's a good sign maybe.

With so many monster homes gradually replacing the original homes on the large (by today's standards) lots of this area, you'd think that all of the money that's coming into the neighbourhood would help too. But I think they're all climbing into their SUV's and taking their wallets elsewhere.

Sorry. metro is our public transportation system here. Here is the website.

http://www.ridemetro.org/

they run way over budget every single year. They make frequent stops in the right lanes to allow people to get on and off the bus. usually there are 2 or 3 and no... they aren't going to or coming from work based on their appearance. It is amazing how the bus stops only let on and let off a few riders at each stop because you can see all of the freaking trash all over the place like there was a small 100 person in attendance rap concert at every single one of them. I hate our Metro system here and would quickly vote it out of existence if ever given the chance.

I'd feel differently if it was eating my taxpayer dollars, ruining my streets, causing traffic and was kept perfectly clean. if you can ever keep Metro from coming to where you live you better do it or move!

It sounds like nowhere near enough money is being spent on public sanitation in the city of Houston. According to what I've heard on public TV if the trash bins near each stop are always overflowing then people tend to become untidy in those places. Similarly if the city is kept clean, it has the effect of subliminally encouraging people to keep their areas neat and tidy. It comes down to pride. No one is proud to live in a dirty city.

The city of Toronto's transit authority is always short of cash too. A fare hike was proposed recently to the usual cries of dismay by those who are self appointed advocates for the poor. The city council is fighting with the mayor over going with the cheaper above ground light rail transit system that they like, or expanding the subway lines as the mayor wishes. Toronto is broke. The Federal and Provincial governments downloaded too many costs to the cities and townships 20 odd years ago, and gave them no new ways to raise revenues.

I like my town's bus service. A transfer is now also good for a 2 hour stop over. So you can go shopping and then ride home again for one fare.
A few years ago they consulted with the various residents associations, and worked out more serviceable and efficient routes that the people want and need. They also worked out a system whereby you can travel to a large shopping mall on the eastern border of town, and catch a bus there from the next town over and use their transit system to get where you need to go. I'm not sure if they've done anything like that with the town to the west. But you could get off of a bus on the town line in the west, cross the street and catch a bus to travel in their town too.

There's been some talk about amalgamating all of the local public transit systems. I'm not sure I like that idea. A big outfit run from far away would never listen to local needs.

Do you suffer from IWS (Irritable Wife Syndrome) :? :?
  I hear there is a cure but a side effect would be CSD (Child Support Disorder)
Anyways.....

What I really wanted to vent about is people at the gym. I am a person who goes to one station and do my sets of exercises and then I go to the next station. What I dislike is when you want to get to a station but another person is using 3-5 stations. They do one set and move to the next station and work their way back to the original station.

Ya I know you can ask to use the station, but I am there to work out and not talk to selfish people.

P.S. Herm why does some words create ads on the forum now? That will be another vent, a smaller one, but still a vent.

Ya I know that some like to train without stopping and that is why they move constantly to other stations, but the gym is not THEIRS.

I am not a social person and I am finding myself getting more anti-social as I get older. I do not have a lot in common with others and with my job, it makes it worse.

Of course if I had the gym equipment at home, most likely I would not use them as much. At least that has been the track history for myself and others that I know.

If my wife reads this post she will not find the humor in it, but I know the husbands do.

Why do some words on the forum now create ads? It is a little annoying.

I totally don't know what you are talking about. This forum is paid for in full by me. There are no adds here. I have never seen an add here. Can you screen shot what you see or describe it perfectly. Sounds like your PC has a bug my friend.

Ahahahaha. Sorry to laugh amigo but that is just you. You have a explorer plugin doing that to you. You are using Internet Explorer right? If so...do this:

Go to Tools,
Internet Options,
put check in the "Delete browsing history on exit" box,
click on the "Delete..." button,
put a check in every box,
click on the "Delete" button,
wait till it tells you it finished,
click on advanced tab,
click on "Restore advanced settings" button,
now click on the "Reset"..." button,
put check in the "Delete personal settings" box,
click on the "Reset" button,
wait till it fishes with all green checks and then close it and all internet explorer windows, reboot,
start up Internet Explorer again,
see if you still have same problem,
if you do install and run MalwareBytes,
then do all of this again after it is done,
then connect here again and see if this is still a problem.

If you don't use Internet Explorer disregard all of that and let me know.
Thanks and good luck!

Thanks Herm. I did as you said..too bad i forgot my password to this site..lol. I had to reset the password.

Anyway, just prior to your post, I discovered that it was "Text Enhance" junk. Malwarebytes and ccleaner did not locate it. I have ran fulls scans and Rkill just a day or two ago when I began to see this happening but none of the programs found anything.

I had to clean a very similar program off my son's computer just yesterday. It bypassed all malwarebytes scans as well as full AVG scans and even HijackThis wasn't a help. It took an hour or so to realize I had to remove some 'demo' camera program he had installed to remove this behavior. Nasty stuff indeed, expect to see this one a lot now.

BTW, I PM'ed you my home number. Hit me straight away over stuff like this if you want to bypass the post-and-wait cycle and chat me directly.

I just wanted to say thank you to Hermskii for identifying that I had a malware (text enhanced malware). I began seeing these stupid ads created by certain words. My wife's Facebook was plagued with them. So thank you Hermskii for letting me know that I was the only one seeing those ads and letting me know how to correct the issue. Thank you Kelly for offering aid as well.

I will post this in the grateful thread to since this is not a vent, but since it is a part of a story told here, I thought the end of the chapter should be posted here.

I don't like malware, and none of my scans with malwarebytes of ccleaner, or avast picked it up. I am guess because it was rooted in IE as an extension, they would not pick it up in the first place.

I am ready for taxes. I kept records, I bought the Turbo Tax program that I have been using for years, I completed the entries and completed the tax paperwork. BUT, I am unable to e-file. Why? Because of two reasons so far. My state is not accepting them yet and second the IRS Form 5695 (energy tax credit -home improvements making the house more energy efficient) is not able to be e-filed at this time. This date on the 2nd issue has been delayed several times. Now it is claimed to be 02/07/13.

I just want to e-file, get it done with, and when I get my refund put it towards the roof bill (the home improvement that I did last year).

I read a press release from the IRS and it stated that this form might not be available for e-file until February or even March....

I did my job. I paid my taxes, let me get my refund so I can pay down the bills.
