Microsoft outlook problems, can they be fixed?

Post by a nameless entity » Thu Mar 13, 2025 3:30 pm

Because I'm stubbornly staying off line, but needed a separate account in order to argue with my water and power company, I created a new hotmail/outlook account.

I was allowed to use the account for 7 days. Then the demands for a security number "to protect my account" started. I set up my old hotmail account as the alternate. So it gets these security numbers, but no matter how often I submit the latest one, the demands for another one pop up every time I try to login to the new account. So effectively, I can't login.
(And thus I got cut off mid argument with the power company. )

There's some bs about 30 days to reset the whatever...... I'm getting confused here......that I see at my old account.
(Checking the Microsoft "help" webpages just takes me to stories of hopeless runarounds, and is quite discouraging.)

Has anyone heard of this endless cannot login security code loop? Does it go away after 30 days maybe?
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

I have not. I have Office 365 which includes Outlook. Almost every day, I see a warming or notification about something not working right and that they are working on it. If BLONDEHOTTIE were still coming here, none of these problems would be happening. That reminds me, SLAYED had a UT Server. I guess he took it down. Anybody know?

Yes, he took it down, quite some time ago. I wish they were still around too.

I figured it out today. It was Firefox that was messing me up. If I opened one of my two accounts, it fought me on opening the other for some reason. Opening two instances of Firefox rather than using different tabs didn't help. And if I cleared the chache to get the other to open, then I lost all progress on trying to input the security code for the new account from my old account. :?

I resolved it here at the library by opening the new one in Firefox, and the old one in Google Chrome. That worked. At least for today.

So I got my latest email sent off to the water and power company. My town owns that company, and there's obviously been some kind of hatchet job of down sizing that's gone on. Phone calls don't go to the office any more, just phone jockeys working from home in foreign countries.

I still don't like Chrome. I googled how to clear the browser history, and the option to clear the history did NOT show up under "more tools".
(But it will be wiped once I log off here at the library, thank goodness.)
