Moding a server Mod
Does anyone know how to mod a mod? There is a mod made in 1999 that I would like to have the ablity to adjust. Can't reach/find the person who made the mod so I figured I'd try to do it but have no earthly idea how to do it . . . .

It's a mod called "SoulHarvest". It was done by someone called Mongo. I'd like to be able to:
1. Change the speed with which the souls float upward
2. Time limit on how long they stay/float around before they disappear.
3. Be able to adjust points for "harvesting" or "saving" a soul

I've got it on my server now but would like to be able to tweak the settings

Cool
I have a feeling that Scotty will help but I also must say to try hard to reach the original maker. If I recall, he is a big time UT personality and those are the ones you really need to check with first before you alter their stuff. I will put a call out for him for you.

That'd be great. I don't want it mod'd without him, and thus by him, unless he is not around anymore. I like the mod but I just see more potential in it with "options" put into it.

It was as simple as emailing him. Who'd have thought.
His reply: Feel free to make whatever changes you like to it. I unfortunately haven't touched it in years. :-/
So I guess, if ScottyD or someone wants to give it a shot, it's cleared to be mod'd.
ScottyD you still want to give it a shot?

I'm on it now, will post back in a few minutes after I get it decompiled.
OK, it's decompiled and posted HERE if you want to look at it. You can open the .uc files with notepad if you don't want to get an actual editor program.
This is a fairly simple mod. Tell me what you want done and I'll whip it right up. K you want to help? It would be a good place for you to make your first full mod...

Just for fun I got the tiny sound clip & listened to it on my Sound Recorder. I then played it backwards & it sounded like it was saying EEOOWW (like they got hurt)!ScottyD wrote:Oh, I was looking through the code and found it imports a sound file. I extracted and posted it also in case you want it changed:
