Difference

Post by Hermskii » Thu May 07, 2009 12:07 pm

What is the main differences between RVH and MRS? I know they both have some different maps. Bots are set up different. They are both faster than CG. They both have less gravity than CG and they have spawn protection. What is different between just the 2 of them though being RVH and MRS?

From a player of all 3 servers . . .

{RVH} has been called a little more insane than MRS. For instance since it is a little faster you can blow yourself up when moving and firing (unless done correctly) . . . prevents mindless spraying. It was never meant to be that different just an overflow for when MRS was busy . . . which is why it will probaly be closed soon since traffic is down on MRS . . . .

Stop the talk old man. Is it hurting you to run your server? No. So why would you shut it down. Business may be down but the longer you sit the better you'll do. Do you even see anything that tells you about how many games are played on your server each day or do you have any chat logs so you can read what people are saying while you're not there?

I'm going to log in on CG and MHM right now and hit F2 to see the amount of games played. I'll post the answers here and then I'll try to get reminded to do it again tomorrow so I can see what is going on as far as games played at my servers. I used to do this lots back in the beginning but once I cycled past 100,000 games a few times over on CG I stopped watching it totally. I have no idea right now how many games are being played on the servers right now but I can tell from my chat logs that CG is very busy even if only with one player at a time. Right now CG and MHM have zero players on them.

OK here are my stats:

CG: 8,599 games hosted. (Funny, it must have rolled over the 100,000 game mark again.
MHM: 45,303 games hosted. (This may be correct but I suspect it may have flipped over once but maybe not. Let's see what changes between now and tonight and tomorrow. You need to do this too. Note this may be useless being I think I may have a setting in a mod to auto change the map if it isn't played over some certain duration of time. I don't know if I have that on or off right now or if it even exist. I can't remember.

Simply a matter of resources. Resources being the actual players. Funnel them to two servers rather than three. More real players than bots at that point therefore more fun. Simple math . . . .

Well for one, RVH has been up & running consistently therefore the IP hasn't changed so much!

They are somewhat similar in that only great players play them...just kidding
but no seriously only great players play them... :P
Actually the big difference that I see is game speed...RVH is on crack.
And his bots/spiders are pissed off compared to mine. You'd have a easier
time killing a real player then a bot on his server.
Maps size RVH has more smaller spray maps then MRS.
I think my server has less bots per map...I use the Boden mod so larger
maps have more bots and smaller maps have less bots.
But overall I have about 3 or 4 bots per map.

OK Played with you MEAT and Namless on RVH tonight for one round. First I was shocked at how pissed off his bots are. LOL. Man those are some mad spiders. The Red Nali was upset too.

Before you got there I was losing to the bots badly. My take on it is they are turned up too high. The speed didn't through me off that bad and if there was low grav in that big bedroom map I didn't notice.

More on a different thread.

Well if you're going to use "bots" you might as well make them active.
Good players just hate idle inactive bots that you can spawn kill...
