I should do it but...

Post by Hermskii » Sat Sep 16, 2006 1:12 am

I should challenge MEAT to a good old fashion game but I'm scared. I know inside and out his tactics for small or large maps with fewer players as he plays exactly as I did with few players but he's better at it than I am since I never focused on large maps with fewer players as he does. Granted he can play many many maps and win and against several players but the high player load and speed is against his grain.

I'd almost bet I'd could beat him if I played a few hours a week for a week or for a few weeks but I plain and simply can't dedicate that much time to playing being I have no time to start with. AND it isn't worth it to me to see really being I still lose most likely.

Tell me / us MEAT, who taught you the method you use that I won't explain in public to protect your process. Was it me or did you figure it out yourself? I have used your method before but tend to revert to spray and pray too since I play all sizes of maps against all numbers of players. Yes, I too used to be nearly unbeatable 1 on 1, or even one on a few. You have already proven to be able to beat almost everyone one on one many times so I have to give you your props for it but I have won those too regularly and by hitting the max score to win and not having the best score by end of game which is how I suspect you and I would play best. How do you do on Deck 16 against me or others for instance? Muhahahaha. See what I mean?

Can you own at every level? There are a few players that can actually. You have heard of Vette. He really was awesome back in the day but it has been said that he hasn't really played lately. There were others that were able to make the adjustments to every style of play like Kind@bud and Death Inc. That is 2 players that were nearly impossible to beat if they tried. Even young-young Jester (13 years old) was one a crazy win streak but more towards spray and pray as you put it. My nephew at 14 taught me your method of game play. I learned it but would rather lose a game or two that try that hard all of the time.

Yes! I have had some ahem beer tonight. The truth is I'm jealous since it has been along time since I was in the spot light like you are now. Enjoy it now because it will pass. There will be a newb that you know, will come along and own you eventually. Watch out for Racenut for instance!
Chit mann. I have to get off of this. Enjoy your popularity but spread it out. You have to be able to win all the time. Not just on your specialty maps. Don't make me come out of near retirement to teach damn it. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

I love ya Hermskii and I can't wait to hookup for a beer or four come Thanksgiving so we can ponder the meaning of life...lol
Although is there life after UT...?
And I've seen you at work and you're right, you are rusty.
Deck16 full of spawn kills and hooks no thanks.
Anyway, my method/technique is simple...I watch then react. And if that
doesn't work I"ll hunt your ass down....much like life in general.
Unless we're playing a spray map with a crowd then it's the guy that gets the most spawn kills that wins.
And I learned my technique from watching sprayers.
I wanted to be better then the guy who was just trying to get lucky and hit something
when he sprayed and prayed.

I can not recall playing Vette when I was starting up but I've ran into DeathInc a few times....yes he is good on "crowded spray maps".
But I've beaten him a few times on crowdless maps. And I've seen him quit and leave out of frustration to.
Plus there are two or three guys out there now that beat me everytime on certain maps. So no, I'm not all that good.
Again, it's that comfort thing or favorite map syndrome. We all have them.

And to go back to where it all began....check the records if you like.
All I was trying to do was bring some life to this forum and to the Redeemer.
I wanted to start having one on one or two man team tournaments.
Maybe even start a ladder so we could rank ourselves and have challenge matches.
I was getting bored doing and watching the same old movie: You enter a map
and the guy that sprays and prays the best wins.
I wanted to bring a new challenge to this game and to take it beyond what it was.
I wanted to bring in new maps where everyone was on an different but equal playing field.
Change is what I was after because we were losing all the better players to newer versions on this game.
So I threw out the idea for one on one challenge hoping to cause a buzz or a change.
Something to get the blood flowing again.
Although no one really took to my ideas...hmm?
Well at least I'm stirring the pot a little....lol
