Stupid News... or just plain stupid people making news

OK folks. This will be the most important crime thing I have ever posted here. This happened up in Austin TX last Friday night. A girl is walking alone to a bar and is 10 ft from the front door when some guy up from behind her and sucker punches her from behind knocking her unconscious. He then proceeds to steal her purse and walks off like no big deal.

The big deal her is that this video on YouTube only had 15,000 hits a few days ago. Yesterday it had 30,000. Now it has about 35,000. This made the news all over Texas instantly. The biggest news here is that this victim is my little sister and I hope they catch this young man real soon because I'm really-really looking forward to meeting him in person!

Before your sister called the subject a COWARD, I was thinking the same thing. Nothing but a coward. I hope some one does meet up with him before police.

A young guy to a 40 year old woman who doesn't expect a sucker-punch shot like he threw is about the same as an old guy with a bat doing the same thing to that particular younger guy right? LOL. Trust me when I say I would not a bat in that equation. I'm 44 years old or maybe 43 and struggle real hard to imagine anyone being able to stop me if I went after them seriously. While I'm certainly an expert in a defensive posture, actually attacking a person is well trained into me as well. No if this person is identified I will not attack him. At least I doubt I would but if everything presented itself to me just the right way, I'd be hard pressed not to accidentally injure him real bad. To me, this goes right on the scale of getting to meet someone who hurt a child of mine intentionally! I would surely be prosecuted and I would surely be defended as being insane I'd bet. Yeah, I suspect I'd snap if I ever get to be face to face with this "suspect".

The punk appears to be a juvenile. I don't know how many other kids down there wear a weird bib like he did, or such uniquely styled shorts, but the camera got a good look at his face. He is so recognizable that he will be caught, I'm sure of it.

I understand from you Herm that Texas is tough on crime, so I expect that he will get the book thrown at him, and be doing time in juvie-jail. If the punk has any brains, he'll come out a smartened up young kid. If he doesn't, he will continue to go down the path he is already on and eventually destroy himself. The wheels of justice grind slowly, but they will eventually catch this boy, and either remake him or grind him up into dust.

In the mean time I expect that your family has already gathered around your sister, and that you are spending all of your energy on being there for her. I pray that your sister heals up as quickly as possible, and that any scars she gets from her ordeal are merely physical.

Thank you very much for your kind and supportive words Nameless. My sister is doing real good. I have not spoken with her in a few days but I have tried to call. They have not caught this guy yet and even if they do, I don't think he'll ever be OK. I can't imagine anyone doing what he did. I think something is already so wrong with him that he'd do what he did that it is already too late for him. He is messed up. Grrrrrrr! The more I think about it the more I want to meet this guy. I think he is older than 21 at least. What do you think?

He looks like a large framed 14-18 year old to me. What is the age of majority in your state? What age does he have to be so that they can try him as an adult if he is still a minor?

You are correct. He is indeed very messed up. What I see upon reexamining the video is an angry and determined young kid who is going to have his weekend drug money no matter what or who he hurts. The danger for him is that he may have no moral grounding at all. If that is the case then you are probably right. It is already too late for him. Either way, he needs to be caught as soon as possible.

I am so very glad she is 'relatively' ok.

I hate this kind of thing. I am a peaceful person, but when I see this I want to do the very act of violence that I find repungent. That lewza. No place on earth for him.

Amen to that. There is a whole mailing thing going on in Austin now to press the court to put this guy away for a very long time. The city was very upset about this crime it seems. Good! Put him away for ever. He had already been convicted of armed robbery back at age 20. You can't fix somebody like that. He will always be willing to hurt people the rest of his life. Let him rot in jail forever I say!
