beginning to appreciate why none of you liked the guy

Initially kicked into gear by Hook, who said the basic setup of that map I love to edit so many MH maps off of would be fun for a redeemer arena (recently joined another forum where MEAT said the same thing) I went looking for the original map. The map was cut in half for MH, the first release was for CTF and had a base on both ends.

Skimming the archives of ut99 I found Kaal's old posts; though I'm sketchy why when he was banned all his posts didn't get deleted like other sites (twitter, livejournal, etc) do. I popped over to Unreal Playground where I know he still posts and asked him about it... and he didn't respond for a couple weeks. When he finally did, I had to deal with this.

I did check consistently for a few days before I figured he might eventually get to it. He posted a download link for it for 1 DAY and then deleted it. Now he's going all bratty saying I missed my chance and it's all my fault I wasn't logged in on that one particular day.

Anybody know how to skim the internet and get the map from it? I've seen people track down archives of downloads from websites that've been completely deleted before.

Go to House of Fools. Search for gopostal. Ask him for the file. He'll have it or get it for you but you must ask with respect.

He's popped back on ut99.org recently so I may hit him up for it there. He and I are on shakey ground as it is so I'll be cautious.

By the way. I didn't say I didn't like him. I said his reputation proceeded him and sadly it was not good based on all that I read and saw about him. He is the only person who I didn't allow to join this forum. I'm leaning towards allowing it at some point. I'm giving him time to grow up more...

The last several things i have seen indicated to me he may be doing just that. I have not heard complaints about him in a long time.

Postal. There was a miscommunication between us a stretch back and he overreacted BIG time. Which would've been fine if it had been just that, cuz time heals all wounds, but then he started taking it to other forums and...

...well, let's just say it was bad.

Well, that went better than I could've hoped but frustratingly didn't go anywhere.

Gopo says he does have all of Kaal's maps but as he would prefer not to have anything to do with the guy's work, which seems odd as he collects it, he won't give me the map.

le sigh...

Yeah, I got Hook looking for it too.

I may do a followup and post about it in a few UT forums (know how you love my multiposts) in a week or two if nothing turns up.

Okay, I got it. Kaal finally coughed it up, though he said he made some kind of improvement to it just before sending it my way and I don't know what that was all about...
...then again, I've never played the original

Already monkeying around with it:

Just added some color to it, though for some odd reason I can't change the sky. It looks the way I changed it in UnrealEd but ingame it's that old drab thing right there.

Maybe his improvement was to prevent tampering? Or at least some...

Anyway, give me a few days and I'll have it setup for Hook and MEAT's respective desire to nuke the hell out of themselves and anyone else nearby. Mostly wanna get it to look right, hopefully figure out how to fix that damned sky, and maybe add one little surprise.
