I can't give you specific details as to how it was done but my old computer was much the same way. Totally kaput. When my friend built me my new computer he took my old harddrive, unaltered, and put it in here as an extra drive.

So, I have access to all of my old stuff on the E: drive.

Just a thought.

Is a apst the same as a deti button? Oh, and don't feel bad about about being accused. I got accused big-time of something recently. It was funny too!

The computer won't even boot with the drive attached, tried external usb hdd enclosure too. Game over.

Slave it and see if it gets detected. Sorry if you already tried that. Don't try to boot from it. Just try to get to the files.

It is an Seagate SATA2 500gb 16mb cache, no need to slave it. Sata 2 is hot swappable.
When I attach the hard drive to an running computer ( no matter what pc, tried 4-5 computers) it does spin up, and crashes the entire system (bsod).
Even with docking stations and external usb enclosures ,,, the computer hangs or gives the same big fat bluescreen.

If I want to get the files back I need to bring it to an forensic lab I think. Perhaps the disk was overheated and writed corrupted files to the filesystem.... I am doomed!
