The DOU server.
I have heard references to this server for a while now. Can someone tell me what the name of it is? Is it in the DM tab?

In the long run
In the very long run, I could see that happening but it almost sounds clandish and as you know, <SRA> is a tag and not a clan yet it is worth defending the tag. OMG <SRA> is a clan! A clan of anticlan players. Exact randomness is in fact a system. Hmmm? Nope, we are not a clan. I don't care what I just thought.

Hmmm!
Hey Pebcak! I'd tell you but I didn't build a website for nothing. Please visit my home page at www.Hermskii.com then from there select the link on the left called CG. The whole story is right there. It's a great story too in my humble opinion. Thanks for asking.

More
Here is a post I put up on another forum a while back when I was asked about the humble beginnings of CG. In the post, it too mentions about where the <SRA> tag came from. Here is the post:
For those that don't know the story from back then:
Back in the old days the only real Redeemer Arena was called Schwantz's Redeemer Arena which is otherwise known as SRA. We had a ton of regs and a ton of maps but we weren't really getting any new blood (noobs) to fight against and we were getting tired of the same results with the same players night after night after night. Don't get me wrong. It was fun but after a couple years of nothing but the same people, it can get slow. Part of the issue was the large amount of custom downloads (Maps, Voices, Skins, Textures, Music, Sounds) on the server and back then, no one knew how to use redirects so they took FOREVER.
I asked Shwantz if he'd mind giving me a copy of the mod he was using. I told him I wanted to make a training grounds of sorts for noobs to learn on and then I'd send them to the slaughter house called SRA. He said sure and sent me the mod.
I built the server and used nothing but default maps so no one would have to download anything to play. They would get in instantly on their first try. I had a message that told the new players that if they could ever beat me, I'd direct them to the playing fields of the real Redeemer Arena pros. I told them that they would have to stress it was a qualification round so I would know to try hard as I used to be pretty good back then but I didn't play every single round like a championship round. So they would say they were going for it and I would go for it too. So if you won, you knew and I knew that you won fair and square!
As people would beat me I would have them email me and I'd send them the name of the SRA Server and Forum. The plan was great and worked great except for two things. The first problem was that they would finally go to Schwantz's Redeemer Arena and they would get totally owned by the regulars there because they didn't ever play on many of the custom maps that Schwantz ran so they were at a huge disadvantage. That would cause problem number two which was they would all come running back home to CG with their bloody noses where they could continue to own all of the noobs.
Eventually, I started banning players who had beaten me to force them to continue their efforts on Schwantz's server but many had legit complaints being they were 56kers and the maps cycled so fast at the SRA server that they couldn't download the maps and additional files before it cycled and they'd get disconnected and not have any of the files that they had been downloading for 10 minutes. Others just hated that after finally making the grade they would get knocked back down to being a freshman on the SRA Server by the Senior players. They hated it so much that they refused to play there.
I removed the bans and just let everyone play at CG. Schwantz had started new work and wasn't wanting to keep the level of focus on his server that he had maintained over the past several years so he shut SRA down leaving CG with the torch for the time being. SRA has been back up a couple of times as Schwantz has had time and serveral other servers running this mod have come and gone over the years too.
To this day, I still think it was a great plan and had I known then what I know now, players like "Amtaham" would have been banned for good and the system would work well. I'd do it again but I too like Schwantz have more pressing matters being life in general so I'll leave my stuff the way it is for now. You new server admins might use this method though. The mystery of a greater place to play such a fun game will always draw in curious players hell bent on making it to the next level. Later!
So, there you have it. I hope the SRA tag question got answered in there somewhere but if not, it is just a tag worn mostly by the players of the server that really started it all which is Schwantz's Redeemer Arena other wise know as SRA. After he took the server down, we honored him and his server by putting this tag in front of our names. We were never a clan and were pretty against ever being one too though we often invited redeemer arena players in to play. On a good night, there would be about 10 players. Any one of those players could usually clean house at any given moment. Some of them still show up and play on CG and still pretty much own everyone whenever they want. There are lots of new players too that kick butt as well. Us older SRA players get our butts handed to us sometimes but I don't think most of us really try so much anymore as just enjoy playing and chatting with each other. CG is fun and funny. MHM is fun and work. Big difference. Later!

Sup Herm,
Thanks for the history. I will have to look around at the website a little more. Does Schwantz still play? Still the same handle?
Thanks for all of the work. CG and Kid were my first trip into the 'deemer world and I have not left. I run into Mah and BK quite often. BK was the first person I ever "talked" to on a game server. Late night for both of us and only the 2 of us on the server. He gave me a few tips and tricks as well as a lot of schooling <lol>.
Keep up the good work and thanks again.

LOL Jarg !!! Glad you found the ClanDOU -= Redeeemer Server =- Come Die!! but what made me laugh is that if SRA have to compete DOU, I'll be in a difficult position as I'm (and will stay) <SRA>LePoLoo but I'm too {DOU}MooN !!! MooN is the name I had before I joined Clan DOU...The Jargonaut wrote:Thanks Herm, I found it.
I see it holds 24 peeps. Mahatma would just go ga-ga if it had a full house.
Would it not be GREAT if the SRA gang went head to head with the DOU folks in a little competition?
gears churning...

Otherwise, it would be fine if here and there it happens that 24 players meet at the same time !!! I've never seen such a thing !

Too much lag ? go fishing...

Hmm i agree with polo/moon it would be hard to get the 2 "clans" together as most of the dou (that play deemer) play on cg maybe a little more then there own but yup it has PLENTY of room over there.LePoLoo wrote:LOL Jarg !!! Ok jarg i made a noise on the dou forum for youThe Jargonaut wrote:Before I do, how many people are in the DOU clan? I am pretty sure that I can get a bunch up from SRA (not a clan, a tee shirt). If I know how many are needed, I will start making noise on all of the boards.

Heck I'd better go join clan DOU right away if I want to take part in this.
Since I suck so bad at redeemering, the best way I can help out our beloved SRA would be to join the enemy.
And Lepoloo has declared he will not be on our side in this one.
So I must absolutely compensate for his absence by joining DOU!
