Pots it is. The version posted is fully functional. I just cleaned up some stuff so admin was easier to do and fixed the voices from being so spammy, among other things that needed addressed.

The continuing discussion is over "personalizing" a version for MHM2. I purposely made the v1 version easily moddable so server admins can alter it to suit their particular server tastes. This is not required to use, but more for fun and for K to learn how to do it.

Roger that. I think that UTJMH remix + MHPinata may work fine together.

I ran all three (antiboost, UTJ, pinata) together last weekend to test the netcode and it was fine.

Redo

Post by Hermskii » Tue Nov 25, 2008 11:32 pm

I'm just going to have to suspect that some part of my install is corrupt and start over with brand new downloads and everything and if it still happens and doesn't work I'll freak out. This makes no sense to me and believe you me, I can set up a server faster than anybody and with my eyes closed. This is soooooooooooooo frustrating to me.

I don't think it's in your server as much as there is something in your player install wrong or conflicting. Did you overwrite the sound package? The latest had an update.

I'm gonna run a turkey day server if you want to see it online. The ping won't be good but you can try it out.

EDIT-OK server is up and running. I'll be gone today (work) so if a map crashes it, I'll restart when I get home.

OK, my turn to ask of you...

How do I get this:
http://www.agutgopostal.com/nocrying.htm

to show in the mapvote window? I'm at a loss. Server admin login is boomboom if you want to fix it if you know what I did (doing) wrong. My jpg is 800 square, so does it have to be smaller?

Lastly if you guys join to peek at things would you tell me what your pings are? I know they wont be very good, but I'll see if I can improve them.

This is from the UnrealWiki:
First, make sure the image you are trying to import is:

* A power-of-two number of pixels across (e.g. 1x1, 16x4, 64x128, 256x256, ...) up to 1024x1024.
* Using 8-bit color (256 color indexed) BMP or PCX for UT; 8-bit indexed BMP or PCX, 24 bit or 32 bit TGA or DDS for UT2003.
* Saved in .pcx or .bmp for UT; saved in .pcx, .bmp, targa, DXT or UPaint for UT2003.

Then, in the Texture Browser, do Texture Browser Menu -> File -> Import. Find the directory containg your .pcx or .bmp file, then select it and click Open. A window will appear asking for specifics on how to import the file
Now I've resized your picture at 256x256 pixels, I've failed to load it as a PCX so I've used BMP. I've made a new texture package named gopostal_logov1 and saved. After that I've opened my MapVoteLA.ini and I've put the following entry:
LogoTexture=gopostal_logov1.mapvote
where gopostal_logov1 is the name of the new texture package I've made before. Here is how it looks like after that:

Image

As you can see the image is too compressed and the text can't be read. I think you should directly make it 256x256 instead of 800x800 pixels, but I might be totally wrong, UnrealEd is a stranger to me.

P.S. As regards ping, on American servers mine varies from 200 to 300 on an average.

Health

Health does work but noregen works at all. I'll figure it out and get back to you. It will be several days.

Cool outline POTS and thanks, because I will be adding something to make the mapvote look nicer.

I should have been more clear because I meant the actual pop-up window you get when joining the server. You know, server rules and such. It's referenced in the mapvote admin tab, left side near the bottom. You enter an url to have something in the black box when mapvote opens.

Thank you for your thorough explanation on adding a logo though. That was my next step after sorting this out.

Ops I misunderstood...
I really have no idea about how to modify the pop-up window :(

MapVoteLA.ini

Post by Hermskii » Wed Nov 26, 2008 10:27 pm

In the MapVoteLA.ini file there are two lines that matter towards having a welcome window pop up. They are:

ServerInfoURL=www.hermskii.com/MHM/MHMInfo.htm

and 6 lines down from it is:

bEntryWindows=True

All I had to do was make a message in the htm format and be able to point the setting to it as I did in the first line and then I turned it on as I show in the second line. Did I just help someone? OMG it has been so long since I helped somebody! Patting self on back.

I tried adding the line via webadmin while ingame, but not by editing the ini. I think my problem may be the logo is just too big...I'm going to go test a couple of different ways now that I know the correct line to edit.

Herm, how big is your htm anyway? or is it automatically sized?

NVM, I just looked at your source. I see now.

This is my ini:

Code: Select all

[MapVoteLA13.BDBMapVote]
bAutoDetect=True
bDM=False
bLMS=False
bTDM=False
bDOM=False
bCTF=False
bAS=False
bSortWithPreFix=True
ASClass=Botpack.Assault
VoteTimeLimit=50
KickPercent=51
bUseMapList=False
ScoreBoardDelay=10
bAutoOpen=True
bKickVote=True
bShowWhoKicksWho=False
bCheckOtherGameTie=False
RepeatLimit=2
MapListIfNooneVoted=1
MapVoteHistoryType=MapVoteLA13.MapVoteHistory1
ServerInfoURL=www.agutgopostal.com/nocrying.htm
MapInfoURL=
MidGameVotePercent=51
Mode=Majority
MinMapCount=2
bRemoveCrashedMaps=True
bEntryWindows=True
bDebugMode=False
bEnableEmptyServerLevelSwitch=False
EmptyServerLevelSwitchTimeMins=15
MsgTimeOut=10
bLoadScreenShot=True
It all looks good, so it has to be the image size. Oh, and I would wager there isn't a day that goes by you don't help someone. You helped me yesterday with mapvote by reading some old posts of yours. Pat with the other hand now :lol:
