Not everybody knows This. . . . . . .
Hello everyone and welcome to not everybody knows this.
You will read about new secrets on my server in this thread.
Feel free to ask questions or post comments.
Here is the first installment.
Zoom with ANY Weapon - FOV
This is a key bind. My Server Has the user modifiable Field Of View (FOV) settings enabled. UT's default FOV setting is 90 degrees. This can be set from the console (the tilda ~ screen) with this command "fov 90". By modifying this setting you can effectively zoom in with any weapon (exactly like you can with the sniper rifle) - "fov 15". You can also use it to see more of the area around you - "fov 180". When these commands are properly bound to a key, you can create an on demand zoom key or peak key (or both).
When in the console - this command will make the Z key into a ZOOM key
set input z fov 15 | onrelease fov 90
When in the console - this command will make the P key into a PEAK key
set input p fov 180 | onrelease fov 90
I discovered this while researching Herms Roots lol And activated it on my server cause i think it is cool. But try not to share this with everyone. I think it would be cooler if only MHM Peeps knew about this feature.

I was thinking that too, could this be considered cheat? I thought for a moment that those bindings could be really useful for DM.*POTS* wrote:I don't use FOV bindings anymore because on most servers are either disabled or considered cheats, but I think they may come useful in MH servers. Good idea K.

Anyway... my knowledge is not that advanced but, I wanna collaborate with something, even knowing that you probably already now this

+ To kill monsters always try headshots. Every monster could be killed way faster if you try to do headshots. Grab a ripper and just aim to their heads. Prefer ripper to sniper because it´s shoot ratio is way faster.
+ To defend yourself against a redeemer attack (by a monster or another player) you could try to destroy it´s nuke. You can do that using a minigun (once I destroyed one using a sniper but I don´t recommend it

I think it won't work other wise K would tell that you can change it?Reggy_Babe wrote:One quick question. If you muck around with the numbers like change it from fov 15 to fov 5 would it still work just zoom further or would it just not work? And same with the fov 180. I f you put it to like fov 200 would it still work or just not work?

Raising your FOV value can help a little only on widescreen monitors IMO.

Very interesting! I often used to suspect that some players in redeemer arena were using a non standard angle of view. They seemed to be able to spot other players moving around better than most, so I often suspected that their field of view was wider, and that they perhaps had a large monitor also.
UT2K4 had an option where you could adjust your angle of view in preferences.
(It's really too bad we never got redeemer arena off the ground in that game, as there are now at last so many cool maps that would work well.)

I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess
