Playing "1940sRAF" with the 2K3 mod takes me back to my Gulf War 1 days. Ah the memories . . . . .

I'm ex-USAF 21 years . . . E-3 AWACS . . . My brother was Army Reserve MP and was in Dhahran when the scud hit . . . My mom was on prozac the whole time and she still hates Bush Sr to this day . . . . lol

It was the single best/worst event in my life. Totally altered who I was as a person. It was great that I got to see what goes on outside the walls of the US. Terrible because I carry a lot of those memories that never go away (you should ask my wife. She calls me her 2am wakeup scream ).

My combat time was brief. I couldn't possibly fathom how the guys in WW2 fought for months and sometimes years on end. It's amazing that generation recovered.

I too am a Gulf War Vet. Those were hard times. I'm all good now and I got off light comapared to most.

One of the strongest memories from then was about 6 hours from the actual invasion. My squad was attached to a marine assault unit to set up forward communications centers as we advanced. I remember walking through the marines as they were gearing up and it was like walking through a human buzzsaw. It's really hard to explain. The marine unit commmander was blasting Pantera and Metallica out the camp loudspeakers and the marines were getting hyped up and ready to fight. They were so stoked wanting to attack something that I was honestly nervous to even be in there, and I'm on the same side. I felt sorry for anyone on the other end of that. They didn't stand a chance.

Reminds me when we were doing OAF (Kosovo) when the CC, DO and I (I got stuck with acting 1st Shirt) would head out to the flight line to launch and recover planes. We'd get in the CC's car, crank up some Meatloaf and out to the flight line with the music blaring. Now that operation was fun . . . . .
