Bot Behavior

Post by MEAT » Thu Mar 19, 2009 12:42 pm

Strange but true...I'm atop a building looking for prey, in this case bots, and I'm fired upon a couple times.
No big deal, if a bot sees you they have a tendency to react...and in this case the bot was right underneath me.
Again, no big deal, I just backed up a little so not to be hit or catch a blast of an exploding missile from off the building.
All is safe until I see the bot come translocating on to the building from below with missiles a flying.
What a surprised and luckily I escaped...what strange behavior from a bot. He was chasing me.
So strange I had to F1 to make sure it wasn't a real player...no it was a bot.
And I've played this map a hundred times and have never seen a bot on that building before.
hmm...let me try again...yup, the bot again chased me up the building but this time we both blew ourselves up.
And when I respawned back into the game I was on the other side of the map looking at the building where bot and I met.
And as I stood there I saw a bot translocate to atop the building...it was the same bot and he was staring at me.
hmm...so now I'm thinking maybe that bot is programmed to hang out in that particular area.
Again, I've never seen a bot on that building before, so I rebooted the map just to watch that building.
And guess what...the whole game no bot got on to that building. I even got on the building hoping for a reply.
Sure I was fired upon but no bot got close to climbing the building after me.
Strange.......

What's the name of the map? I'm curious. It could've been a fembot looking for her love... :lol: or a particular bot set to search and destroy or berserk mode. :twisted:

The truth? Bots can feel your interior struggle, your search for better players, since better players aren't coming some bots have decided to evolve and fight their master and creator. Some spider-bots are going to do the same with the entity named Klownz as soon as possible...

I'd like to see the map too.

Probably what happened is the map has an area with no pathing. There was (is) a pickup somewhere on the roof you can't see with the mod removing it but the bot still knows is there (they can still see where the pickup is, and will go to it even though nothing is there). Since there is no other thing close that redirects them, they will camp and patrol a small area around the pickup.

DM-SniperTown is the map and the building in the middle is where the bot attack happened.
It's also one of those things where I never sit still and fight...I'm always on the move.
So the bot could have been programmed/pathed to move and act the way it did.
But I tell ya, it sure was interesting to see a bot come after me...
:shock:

What was the name of the bot? It matters becasue I suspect you have your bots set to rotate. If so, the second time you started the game you likely got a different set of bots. Not all bots are equal by any means. Each has different skill sets. Logue being the most accurate for sure. I'm sure some are set up to chase peeps too. I bet it was one of those and yes, I agree with Scotty. I bet there is or was a pickup on that building. I have seen them do stuff like this before.

Funny is when they translocate up to a spot, jump down and do it over and over forever. That makes my son laugh like crazy too.

Code: Select all

BotNames[21]=Jared
BotTeams[21]=2
BotClasses[21]=BotPack.TFemale1Bot
BotSkins[21]=FCommandoSkins.goth
BotSkills[21]=0.000000
BotAccuracy[21]=0.000000
CombatStyle[21]=-0.500000
Alertness[21]=0.000000
Camping[21]=0.000000
StrafingAbility[21]=1.000000
FavoriteWeapon[21]=
BotJumpy[21]=0
These are the default settings for Jared, look at the CombatStyle, it's a negative value, it means she's elusive; look also at the StrafingAbility, the value is 100%, it means she can dodge like hell. BTW she's a fembot, I told you she was a stalker... :lol:

I looked at the map in editor. It does have some pickups on top of the building, but more interesting is there is an ambush point there too, probably to help the bots snipe from the top. That's why your bot was so reluctant to leave. The ambush actor made him want to snipe and he wanted to get the sniper rifle that's there but never spawns. Basically he was caught in a loop:

She had your a** for diner so she shipped breakfast. LOL. HERE COME THE BAD DREAMS MEAT!!! Make sure your wife knows that you are being stalked by FEMBOTS. That way when you say "come on "Jared" come and get it" in your sleep, she won't suspect you of being one of those that are on the "down low". LOL

Dude, I'm sorry. It's my nature to keep at something until I understand it. I'm very logical about things and if I don't know how something works, I'll bang my head against it until I do.

I'll try to keep that in check from now on, but I make no promises. :oops:

I'm still trying to explain who Ichthys is to her.
