Finally a day off but my ping is too high to play effectively. My ping averages 400-500 and at one time as high as +1900 (that was for a brief time though, but high enough to mention).

I was playing on MHMIII and was dying because I did not know what hit me. Talk about spray and pray.. I just wanted to have a relaxing time and play some UT.. :x

I know it is a vent thread but we'd still love to help you but you need to give us some more info. Was your ping crap on any other servers for instance? If so, which ones?

Herm the problem is with his provider I think. The provider of this forum is not that great as well, so annoying when you have to wait for 1 minute to load/refresh a page... Even guests noticed that. :?

Give me 6 months and I'll have this whole thing moved to a much better provider. Sorry it sucks but it is out of my hands really. I noticed it again tonight running slow. I'm really beginning to hate www.ipowerweb.com

It's ok Herm, remember also they don't wanna fix your mass e-mail system, that's a valid reason for hating them.

Herm, thank you but my issue is with my service provider.. It is cable internet and has been good in years past, but I think there is more demand on the service and they do not upgrade so the users get the short end of the stick. When everybody is at work or at school in my community, I get good ping, but when school is out or when people get home, the ping just sky rockets..

Unless my provider updates or does something, I am stuck unless I got to broadband through the telephone company. I do not think I would do that because I have played against a local person and he was on broadband from the phone company and his lag was bad. I won all the time against him. Now I get to feel how it feels to lose because of terrible service. You got to love small towns.

Herm I would not say anything bad about yours or anyones server who is part of this forum. I enjoy the company here.

Man.............I want to tell myself to stop my whining/venting, but........ I never did listen to others, why listen to myself?

When I am trying to do what I am supposed to do, be a good father, husband, employee and then trying to take a step in right direction, I get hit with something that knocks me backwards 5 steps.

My side by side refrigerator is broken. I tried to look at at, perform some general checks and cleaning but still to no avail. And where I live, Sears service does not come until Mondays and the closest time that they have opened in 07/12/10. All I got to say about Sears and Sears and Sears related brands (Kenmore) is that THEY SUCK.

I bought the fridge in 2000. In 2001 I had to have Sears replace the compressor , due to it breaking/not working. Now,.....I do not know what is broken, I just know that the fridge and freezer compartments are not getting cool.

Now I need to spend money that I do not have in repairing the fridge. Ah right......breath in ... breath out ....woosah..

Hmmmm...
Our whole kitchen is Kenmore - all new in 2004.
The Fridge did have a problem last year - same as yours - it was a switch in the compressor that went bad.
Other than that - all is good - so far.

PS: We have Service Plus available from our utility company that covers repairs on most things so the bill was 0 and they were out by the next morning.
They are a lot quicker than Sears.
I highly recommend a service contract like this as it has really saved our butts with some major repairs in the past for AC and Furnace, etc.

Last year at the end of the year my heater stopped working at the old house. I went ahead and replaced everything knowing we would sell and needed it to be up to code. That was $6,000 and then we moved here. Two weeks here and the AC goes out and the furnace is even hotter. First replacement quote for a whole new bottom of the line system is $6,800. I also still need about $4,000 more work done here besides the AC. You folks go ahead and keep venting! LOL.

They have fees for everything now.
Non-use fees.
Under-use fees.

And many more!!!

A credit card we used to have was commandeered by someone once.
The perps had called the credit card company and made a change to the billing address to an address in Texas (I live in Minnesota) so that we wouldn't receive the bill any more and we wouldn't see what was going on.
After not receiving a bill for awhile we called the credit card company to see what was going on.
The credit card company, Capital One, the "What's in Your Wallet" company, argued with us that we had changed it and gave us guff.
The perps also had changed it again to somewhere in Virginia also before they were foiled.
We finally got it changed back to our address after much trouble.
Also, we found out that someone else made about $7000.00+ worth of purchases on it.
We went right to the police and also all the places you go when something like this happens.
The police and other agencies said that all they need is a copy of your statement that they probably took from the mail stream somewhere and with that info it is very easy to take over someone's account.
The FBI of course also became involved.
We ended up freezing the account right away of course and we were not liable for any of the purchases made by the perps.
The Police Detectives and the FBI agent involved all said that they would Never have a credit card, Never - and that none of them do have one either.

We paid off what we had on a couple of them and with much trouble, got rid of them entirely.
The trouble is, credit card companies fight you tooth and nail to prevent you from canceling a card.
They keep adding fees onto your account when you (try to) pay them off.
We finally got the Attorney General involved and Finally severed ourselves from the cards totally!
We went through he same ordeal trying to cancel our son's credit card!!!

I also had an AARP credit card that I thought was OK, and it was better than others, but it too started to screw us so Out it went, with only a little less trouble than the Cap. One cards gave us. :|
Wouldn't you think that AARP would endorse a good company? Not always so! :?

Anyway, we Have been Totally Clean of any Filthy Credit Cards and their Corrupted companies for about a year now and have never Felt Better than we do now about it!!!
We save money for purchases or do without until we can afford them.
We keep enough money in a savings account to handle most emergencies.
Hey, just like the good old days!!! :P

DOWN with Credit Card Companies AND their idiotic blood-sucking cards!!!
Let's PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS!
Back to FREEDOM!!! :D
It is SUCH a GREAT Feeling!!!
Have you all got RID of your Credit Cards yet???
Do it!! (if you can)

EDIT: Another point - We seem to have More money and Less bills now also - without the credit cards! :P
The credit card bills went away! - Cool!

I am well in credit card debt but that isn't my vent. My vent is about my APC brand UPS and the setup directions.

Step 1 is hook up the battery.
Step 2 is place it somewhere cool and out of sunlight and safe etc etc. amd plug it in.
Step 3 is check the wiring fault indicator.
Step 4 is connect equipment with pictures showing the many things that can plug in it.
Step 5 is to hook up phone lines through it to protect them from a surge.
Step 6 is to switch on the backup and then it says: "Note: Allow the Back-UPS to charge a full 8 hours prior to use." Then it says "Press the push button on the front of the Back-UPS"
Step 7 is install software.

My big problem is that you get to Step 6 where you have already disconnected all your stuff and plugged it into this piece of crap and the next line tells you to let it charge for freaking 8 hours. Couldn't they stress that right after Step 1 after you have hooked up the damn battery? Then, get this: in the picture on Step 4 they show you connecting the following items to this this thing as though it would work just fine: Monitor, Computer,External Drive, Fax, Printer and a Scanner. All I have hooked up is a Computer, another Computer, a router and a cable modem. What happens? The damn light turns on and it beeps saying I'm overloading it. What a piece of crap! For the record, it is a APC Back_UPS CS 500. Avoid buying it!

Let me guess...
It was Made in China?
The instructions were translated from Chinese to English by a Chinese person that does not know English at all.
Hmmm :|

Funny you say that. I have a work story to vent about in regards to a usb to capture device. It had the worst directions ever.

Hook, I'm shocked you didn't actually get what I was upset about. I thought it was pretty clear. Hmmmm?

Oh, I think I "got" it - the ORDER in which the directions said to set up the UPS.
Get 'er all set up and then it says to Not Use it until it is fully charged.
And also about how it shows all those items hooked up and it can't even handle your 4 items.

I just noticed that there is an APC Smart UPS #1400 sitting idle near my office. Hmmm
Maybe that is how they work - with nothing hooked up to them?
