I am in the process of trying to become an officer in the AirForce which is my top choice but highly competitive and 2nd possibly the Army. I have a lot to accomplish to be considered-letters of recommendation, type of degree-GPA I have among other things-get in shape, etc. Does anyone know anybody in high places or have any ideas that would give a great recommendation? My wife will be going to her Dad who is retired Army and possibly my brother in law who is currently in the Army. I believe 3-6 recommendations are recommended. Just FYI guys, pretty psyched about this.
Well there are a few issues, foremost I want to do air force as top primary and warrant officer 2nd, then Air force enlisted 3rd choice if the above 2 fail, I am in no hurry and will wait-however I saw the selection board for the last 2 boards and it was 6% and before that 3% out of 900 candidates 22 of them already enlisted and the other 60 from civilian (which could help me) but I don't understand the pull you had? You trained them to do what exactly Herm? So far I have asked an E-5 for LOR, My last 2 college professors, my Retired Father in-law and My Old flight chief E-6, I do not know any officers however, oh and also plan on asking my current boss.

I got your PM Keller and I'm sorry but I could tell you but well you know the rest right? Yeah, I'd then have to frag you.
I just re-read your post and realized I misunderstood some of it. You said you wanted to be an Air Force Officer first and I suggest that you do that. Are you saying you'd rather be a CWO than a commissioned officer? I am saying I rather be an Air force Officer first and if i Don't get accepted- Warrant Officer(computer networking 2nd)
While I certainly prefer Chief Warrant Officers I suggest against it. Maybe I'm still confused but I don't think you can be a CWO in the first place.- I do have a chance to become a CWO, about the same chances as an Officer in the Air force.
I know you can be a regular officer now. Then you mentioned being Air Force enlisted. Do you mean again? (yes I mean again but in the computer field this time and not a cop)
How long were you in already? 4 years AD
What is your current separation status? Honorably Discharged with my Enlisted code(able to reinlist)
I would think you are still inactive reserve right? Yes
What was your pay-grade when you separated? E-4 (made Sgt first time but didn't sew on before I left AF)
You have someone called a Flight Chief but that person is only a E-6? Yes a technical Sgt runs Flights, Colonel/Lt. Colonels run squadrons.
I'm totally confused now. I'm confused because in the Navy chiefs are all E-7 or higher. E-7's are above the tech sgts and pencil pushers I suppose.
Do you currently have a or any GS rating? (Not that I know of- I don't work for the government but I guess it is equivalent to my last rank I suppose gs-5 maybe?)
Last I knew you were a E-5 and totally separated from the Air Force with about 6-8 years on the books. (E-4 who made E-5 but didn't sew on because I discharged with 4 years in) What does your wife say about all of this? (Doesn't bother her, she is helping)
That is the real killer question Killer Keller! Say that five times fast.
Paint me a clearer picture soldier. Go

ASVAB? You were already in. You don't need to take that! Good luck Keller! Sounds like you planned your work and now are working your plan. Kudos!
~Peace~

Unfortunately ASVAB is only good for 2 years, been 5 since i took it last and lacked 1 point on GT score, it will help me prepare for AFOQT test as well for Air Force.
