Ah, you have discovered the bastardization that is Asylum Films. They make a ton of remakes of existing films, I've suffered through a bunch of their stuff for a movie rental community I run on livejournal.

Your privider seems to be living in the stone age, we can monitor modems/mac addresses and signal levels all in this office, which is basically what I do all night. The most plausible causes of outages are 1. A High Noise floor-low Signal to Noise Ratio, usually caused by amp problems or loose fittings at the node. 2. Power outages and 3. Fiber/cable cutDavid wrote:Why is it always that I am the first one who calls my internet provider, Cableone, and state that there are issues with the internet service, such as going down or other issues.
The "tech" on the phone walks you through the same routine each time.....what lights are flashing on your modem, what modem do you have, do you have a router plugged into your modem, do you a direct line from the wall to your modem or do you have a splitter,.....etc.... Then a lot of the time they claim that they have no issues on their end but it is on my end so they will have to schedule a field tech come to my house and check the signal.........

Anyway, this happened to me last week. It has happened many times before but this example proves why I dislike my ISP.
Last week, I was taking a walk on the internet, nothing big, but then the internet went out. I waited for some time to see if it would come back up like it does in most situations, but it did not this time. I did a power cycle on my modem, router, and computer. It still did not come back up. I called the “tech line”. The “tech” went through the above mentioned steps and then told me that they have no issues on their end but it is on my end so they will have to schedule a field tech come to my house and check the signal. I advised the tech I have had field techs come to my house in the past and they state that the issues s on their end and my setup is fine. BUT NO,… a tech was scheduled to come the next day. The tech was unable to come this day because they were already scheduled for the day, note this was around 10am.
A short time later, I received a call from a co-worker who was at work and informed that internet was down at work. I later learned that the whole city and area was down. I was informed that the internet was down in a couple nearby cities because a fiber line was cut in a city about 1.5 hours away.
I called the tech line later that day and spoke to a different tech. She confirmed that the issue was on their end.

I had to call the tech line today and inform them that the service was being intermittent. I informed that my equipment was fine and I wanted just inform them that there might be an issue on their end and that I did not want to go through their steps, and I reminded them about last weeks event.

I would switch provider, but we only have two providers and sad to say, Cableone is better then Frontier. I have a co-worker and some of my wife’s family is with frontier and they hate it.

Re: Vent thread
I am tired of a well known friend, Karma... Don't you hate it when you do something you knew that you really should not do? It would not be smart to do it but you give into the selfish desire?
Well, when I did, Karma came over to play....
My youngest daughter had been seeing doctors and I know that we have some medicals bills, the portions that the medical insurance did not cover. I am ok with paying for medical bills for my daughter or any of my family members. That is what health insurance is for and I can pay the rest. No biggy. I know I will have medical bills to pay for the next few/several months. I am ok; I don't care as long as my daughter is good.
Well, my wife and I wanted and have been wanting to replace our bedroom TV with a new flat screen. We also wanted to replace our dvd/vcr combo we have in our bedroom with a blu-ray player (with wifi built in) that connects to our home network so we can watch Netflix. I knew this would not be smart, because I want to pay off these medical bills in a fast or timely manner. But NO.... I had to go looking to see what TV I wanted. I found a TV that I decided that I would get AFTER I pay the medical bills....but wait, it is on sale and it is free shipping... and no sales taxes.. Tell me it is not so.... The blu-ray player model we already knew what we wanted because we have one in the front room. So I looked up the blu-ray player and the model is not being made anymore, a "newer model" came out but it did not have the same good reviews as me trusted model. So I found a retailer that has the model I wanted but it is now "limited quantity". There was only 17 left....Tell me it is not so.......
My community is having an “E-cycling” day coming up where you can drop off e- waste, old monitors, TVs and such without cost to you. What great timing? But I can’t. Medical bills.
I told my wife it is not smart for us to buy these right now because of the medical bills. So I told her to tell me not to buy it if I keep talking about it/them. But that small little voice inside my head is telling me that if I wanted a new blu-ray player, I better get it now because they no longer make it and latter on you will only be able to get a used unit. The voice also tells me that the price on the TV will go up and there will be shipping charges….
I went to my wife and she was not the support I needed, because she wanted them too..
I bought them. I bought my TV. I bought my blu-ray player. The world did not end. I can pay this off, not as quickly as I planned on it originally, but it will be paid off.
It is all done. I can breathe. We safely bought items that we could have and most likely should have waited for. But hey, we will have what we wanted right?
What now, the Tivo stopped working (just about 30 minutes after buying the TV and blu-ray player). I tried working on it, but most likely it is a hard drive or system board. Or it could be the power supply. Now the Tivo does not work and it is an additional cost to repair, so we can not record our favorite shows if we are not at home. But I can not afford to incur more costs.
What the *?&^%. I knew that I should not have purchased the TV and Blu-ray player. I opened the door for Karma come in and prance around. Granted, a broken Tivo is not really a BIG issue, it is about a $149 issue. But, it adds up when you are foolish enough to buy a TV and Blu-ray player on top of medical bills.
I know as I read this, it sounds like I am a snobbish or spoiled person. I am not. I/we (my wife and I) normally do not buy high priced items very often. We try to “treat ourselves” about once a year with a purchase of something nice for the family. We do not go out to eat very often. And when we do, we go to McDonalds and cheap places that we enjoy. We have been doing well and we wanted to treat ourselves during this time of stress of our daughter’s hospital visits.
But I knew better, and the door opened and Karma has come in and touched at least one item that will cost me more money than I had planned on.
I am happy for the good health of daughter and family. I will pay for my mistake. I guess I will need more overtime.

Have you ever thought about changing your nickname from David to "Donald Duck"?
No offence intended but I can sense a connection between you two lol. I actually think Sir Walt Disney should pay you royalties for getting inspired for his fictional characther.
Try swapping also avatar and maybe something good will start happening to you.

Let's all find this Murphy dude and sue him. The USA got plenty of lawyers after all. A well-planned class action might do the trick.

News like this barely shocks me anymore. I almost wish they were in Texas so I'd know they'd get what they deserve. I'm not for the death penalty if the defendant claims to be innocent and there is hardly any proof or no proof but if they admit it, hang em high!

Up here they'd be charged of course, but we wouldn't get to know their names or see their photographs because they're under the age of majority. 20 years or so ago, they wouldn't even be charged as adults, meaning they might get out in as little as 7 years or so. That got changed eventually after some young murderers got off lightly. It takes special circumstances and a court order to name names or show the images of the accused. It is now easier to get a 16 year old tried as an adult in a case like this, but not a sure thing.Hermskii wrote:This just makes me sick:

I used to be for the death penalty's return, but with DNA evidence and a huge scandal over wrongful convictions due to the testimony of so called experts, I'm not so keen. I'd offer a confessed killer the choice of life behind bars, or execution at any time during his sentence. One who pleads innocent and then is proven guilty with overwhelming evidence should hang though.
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess
