Re: Your Forgiven
Oh I thought it was just that Americans can't spell. Center instead of centre, color instead of colour, check instead of cheque, etc etc.
There's a standing joke up here about American software that doesn't allow for Canadian English that drives us nuts. I had to teach the auto spell checker here that "cheque" is a real word.

But yes, Hermskii is correct. Although that spelling mistake is very common nowadays.

nameless
you are poking at the USA on Veterans Day... the greatest.....ah never mind, I know you are joking and so am I.
Canadian English.....??? That is like saying Canadian Bacon but the real full flavor bacon taste batter... hahahaha Not meaning to say the English from England is better, I am just saying real full flavor bacon you fry up in a pan is better than the want to be ham on a pizza.
What is up with Canada anyways? I never been there, even though I thought to visit up there. I have been told it is a beautiful country and there are really nice "Civilized" people there. I was told by others that we American are uncivilized.
You under the crown of the Queen (I am not sure I said the right it but it was better than my original thought of you are under the throne of the Queen
) but yet you guys have a province or a portion of your country speaking French????? Don't let me get into the French jokes....I surrender I surrender.. I surrender..I surrender......
It looks to me, a lay person in much of the way, that your Canadian English has the French influence.
Anyway, I digress...What was the topic again? lol

Re: Your Forgiven
Yes, it's true. The Queen of England is also the Queen of Canada. And Australia, New Zealand, and a whole bunch of other places. My passport used to say in it: "The bearer of this passport is a British Subject". But now it says "The bearer of this passport is a Canadian Citizen". I guess we're getting too big for our britches, because we're still subjects of her majesty.
There's American English, Canadian English, UK English, and for all I know Australian English, South African English, etc etc. Each has their own ideas on spelling, and perhaps even grammar. Make a deliberate spelling mistake in here, and then right click on the word and scroll down to Languages.
If I told you that the date was 11/12/11 you'd think it was November the 12th, but all other English speaking places use day/month/year so they'd think it was the 11th of December.
We have all sorts of French speaking communities in Canada, stretching along the old fur trading routes from Manitoba in the West to all through Northern Ontario and down to Quebec. They're the descendants of colonists from France who settled in Quebec 300 years ago. France also established colonies in the maritime provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They are from a different part of France than those in Quebec. The Frenchies in Nova Scotia staged a rebellion in the 1700's, hoping to make their own country (Acadia) there. The Brits put it down, and subjected to expulsion any Frenchies that wouldn't swear allegiance. Many were sent to New Orleans, and that is where you get your French speaking Cajun's from. (Cajun being a corruption of the word "Acadian".)
And that is your brief history lesson for today.

American English there is many type of it.I watch TV show USA English how it different each state. Here in Va . There is two county we say differently like Staunton (stan-tən) and Botetourt(bot-ə-tot). I guess we say that because British say it county was name form British Lord or Baron Botetourt. Some people say Thomas Jefferson house Monticello differently too.

Interesting point. Importers of HD's around the world have always begged for more machines, yet Milwaukee has seen fit to cut back production because of the US recession. I suppose world wide demand is down too, but I would have thought they'd still have some of that pent up demand to fill, and keep the assembly lines busier than they are at the moment.
Yeah it's cold out now. Last week I added gasoline stabilizer to the fuel, then warmed up the bike and changed the oil. I guess I'll do the winter storage chores this week, and put the cover blankets over her for her long winter nap.
