VTable Hook?

OK..... I went to a sniper server today just to get into a game (no one was on MHM or CMM and I saw 1 person on the sniper server I visit off and on).

When I first entered the game it loaded up but then a message came and it stated that I was banned/kicked. It stated the reason was "VTable Hook". What is this?

I never had a problem before on this server. I have not added or changed anything to my UT. I am confused.

I emailed the admin of the server asking for clarification. This is the first time I have been banned.

I never heard of it. I don't know much about cheats though. Which server was it? Maybe they are mistaking you for someone else.

It was SOP sniper server, it is a camping server.

Maybe you have a dynamic IP and other dude was caught cheating using your current IP.
I meet once a situation on my old DSL line, I notice as being banned in a tyres site where I was dropped by Mr. Google when I looked for UT99 mods, LOL. Once changed IP, the ban gone.

Anyway I "like" admins like this one banning forever an IP.

Facts:
1) A player have forever the same IP, ID, Name to play 15 years with the same data ?
2) The server will surely run for 25 years or forever

?

Leave them alones with their crappy policies. Maybe have something like:

DENY, *
Reason: VTableHook

The banning system offered by Nexgen is indeed bored, I looked more times for enhanced ban tools because of dynamic IP-s used, and INI files changed at once with name make such a ban to look like never existed. Beside this, an inocent guys entered with a banned IP will be restricted without any reason. What can I say ? GOOD WORK, ADMIN ! Keep your forever policies and teach your kids to not remove them

Agreed. While the chances are slim this is what has happened, it is possible. I just went through CG yesterday and unbanned all 20+ bans on that server. If the people come back in and break the rules again I'll ban them again. Easy!

The only funny thing for me concerning this ban is that my post on being ban is at least 3-5 times longer than the others..

I still do not know what I did. I did contact admin that posted my info. I hope I will hear back from him and he is able to explain to me what I did or what they perceived that I did.

They have good welcoming people there. It has been a good server to stop by and play some.

I want to tell you a small story. Once I added in my ex-MH server ACE anticheat to see how it works. Guess how much I used it ? I think 24 hours. A player, not a bad guy, entered from Netherlands using latest video drivers D3D10 or something like this. Well, my friend guardian ACE kicked player taking a screenshot (a very nice one - player had beautifull S3TC textures) for and assumed hacked unknown D3D10blabla.dll. When I saw this stupidity I removed ACE in less than 40 seconds including the server restart.

I was disgusted because I adverted my support for S3TC textures and good video drivers, and a normal client was kicked for an assumed unexitent cheat making me to look like a dumbass admin and I'm still sorry for that event, in fact I changed my mind a lot about using "tools"...

That is the only things that is funny to me about this. How long this "information" is. It is humorous to me, even though I have no idea what caused it.

I guess when I get banned, I really give them a reason to do so even though I have no idea what I did. An over achiever?

Yeah, me too - not a big fan at all of those anti-cheats - glad I/we don't need to use them.

I'm sure they'll get back with you and explain and it will all get worked out. Let me know what they say. I also did not know you liked sniping. I am about to bring in a few of the sniper server groups into the list of supported servers.

When I first got UT, I started out in sniping. I was in a sniper clan for a time.

Over time, I got tired of some of the die hard competitors. I wanted to enjoy the game more and that brought me to monster hunt and redeemer style of play. I have only recently went back to some sniper servers with a more relaxed way of play. I don't plan on staying on the sniper servers, I like monster hunt and Redeemers more, but it is a nice change once and a while. Especially if no one is playing the monster hunt and deemer servers I go to.

I was contacted about the ban. He stated "David:

We have been catching a-lot of people cheating on our server as of late, I told Tater and the others if you send an e-mail inquiring we would lift the bann, but not until. Ace is what we use and it is not 100%, we may have picked up a false positive on you. Thanks for the e-mail. we are open minded clan and enjoy good clean fragging. So if you would like to come back on our server and play come on back, We would like to hear from you on our team speak for further clarification."

It is a nice response from him. But I am still confused about the reason or what caused the anti-cheat to trip on me; and especially with the huge reason of ban.

My second concern, is teamspeak. I have heard of it but never used it. But they are open for me to talk to them about what is going on, which is nice, but I do not have teamspeak nor do I know which teamspeak to use. I see that the original teamspeak is "retired" and there are teamspeak 2 and 3..???

You know what would be even more fun? Playing on a sniper server vs people like me who suck at sniping but it might be fun. I like that you like these guys and that they gave you much due respect. Do you know any of them? I have not added any Sniper servers to the family yet. Are they worth talking to? They seem real nice.

About the teamspeak: I too have never used it but I hear it is cool. Do they have a forum? If som they should have a teamspeak section there with a FAQ section about it. Otherwise, hit on "Hitman" who owns the Unreal MonsterHunt servers. he has teamspeak and had been trying to get me on it with him too. Mars007 is another you might ask.

Hmmm? Team Speak..... I may do it sometime myself but I'm unsure if I will or won't.
