Such a week I just came off of......
Last Friday May the 4th there were wind warnings. I didn't think anything could be as bad as the wind storm we'd had a few days before the huge ice storm. But was I ever wrong! In fact I had trouble walking home after the post I made here in this thread on the 4th.
I have a sun room (green house) on a platform off of my back door. It's just a framework with 2'x2' plexiglass panels that are clipped into place. In the previous wind storm I lost two roof panels and one wall panel, which was the worst damage the sun room had ever taken since it was built in 1984. It was a bit of work getting the roof panels clipped back in place, and I had to use two new spare panels. The wall panel I could re-use.
But in the storm of May the 4th the winds reached hurricane force, and were only 3 mph less than those in Hurricane Hazel of 1954. A lot of people died around here in that one. 3 deaths this time and lots of power outages. But once again I got lucky and did not lose power. Nor did I lose any shingles off of my roof. The only damage I suffered was the loss of 2/3 of the roof panels and 5 wall panels from my sun room. And the doors of my shed were blown off, which has happened before, but this time the back wall was bowed out a bit.
Once the roof was off of the sun room everything in there was blown around into a complete mess.
I was meaning to clear out the sun room "some day" anyhow, so one good thing was that I now had to do it.
It took all last week to clean up all of the sticks and tree branches that came down, and clean out the sun room, find all of the S shaped and W shaped clips that were strewn about, and then put back or replace all of the roof and wall panels.
It was a full day job to clear out the room, and another to rebuild it.
Now I get to take out the last of the furniture and etc so that I can paint the floor with some textured "Behr Deckover" deck paint.
So not quite done yet. It's been raining most of today, so I've taken a break to come downtown today.
I also took Saturday afternoon off and brought the hog out of winter storage. Then I rode it over to the "Test Our Metal" event over at the new H.D. dealership here in town. They finished the event early, so I didn't get to torture myself with a test ride, but some fun was had nevertheless.
