Epic Game's Fortnite

I heard about this game on the noon news, of all places. So I checked it out. It seems to be 3rd person PvP and PvE in style. I've watched a couple of YouTube videos on it. I noticed a few UT like aspects to some of the character skins and weapons. However many of the trees and plants in the environment look quite different.

This game appears to be a rather unique and interesting blend of 3rd person games like WoW and Lineage II with our beloved 1st person shooter Unreal Tournament.

A check of the FAQ's reveals no plans to make a 1st person shooter aspect of the game.

Apparently you can play for FREE, but if you pay to play, you unlock more loot. However something I read in the FAQ's said that paying is NOT a pay-to-win system like you see in games such as "World of Tanks".
I like the sound of that!

The FAQ's also suggested that the game should be up and running in full any time now in 2018.

Whereas this video gives you a look at the game and suggests that hiding and sniping is (or was as the game is constantly evolving) an easy way to get a win under your belt.

Yesterday (Sunday 4/29/2018) My grand kids were over at our house and they told me they play this also.
I was showing them some UT and one said "Is that from EPIC???" (they knew the EPIC brand LOL)
They thought UT99 was SOOOO cool - I may have to indoctrinate them into our UT99 club! te he he

Can you describe what the problems are with this game?

Other than glitches still needing to be solved, most of the forum posts I looked at complained that the weapon balance is still not right. Most were upset with the shotgun which they felt was too powerful.

The main problem with the weapons IMHO is the fact that they aren't the UT 99 version of Unreal Tournament's guns. I'd love to see a 3rd person shooter version of this game with UT 99 weapons!

You know, I read an article last night about how popular Epic Game's Fortnite has become - It is Big Time popular!
When the author of the article mentioned previous Epic Game successes, he only mentioned Gears of War and Infinity Blade, totally leaving out Unreal and Unreal Tournament!
Made me think, maybe UT99 should be re-introduced!?!?! ...
... to show a new generation just how good gaming can be.

Also, I can't hit a single shot with the guns. Go play ANY FPS shooter, then go play Fortnite. You miss everything.

The elements and age-friendly themed gameplay is very fun, just the guns and the shooting.... it's bugging me out.

This game must really be starting to take off, for I see that it got a mention some time back on "The Big Bang Theory", of all places.

(I just saw this repeat for the 1st time the other night, where Bernadette was trying to learn the game in order to take out her husband Howard in it. )

Read somewhere that it is difficult to get Fortnite to run.
Lots of hacks and patches needed or something to that nature to get it to run.

Plain and simple UT'99 could gain more fans even nowadays in front of other "science" stuff if EPIC would get busy with fixing all those "//fix me" which they have everywhere and removing Accessed Nones by default to not forget a better Editor. More people have gone finding themselves bugged by these rushed assets, so to speak an official update properly conformed would be better than any UTPG "solution" which weren't helping Editor at all - and that is a major factor for development. Else, more things which Editor can do could be unlocked for access from UScript letting more freedom for modding and tweaking Levels. But Epic did not finish their task and jumped forward without too much success as UT'99 - we will see if next games are going to be that strong after 20 years, if we will be alive. If a game is still successful after 20 years perhaps you should make a minimal effort to maintain it as long as game-servers are paying their bills and still running... just saying.
If Editor from UT'99 would have good logs toward a crapped brush, more maps could be done much better and UT'99 would be very rich in good Levels at this point. The rest of Fortnite and Co. for me is not a goal as long as these days I could play UT as I was only dreaming in 2008 - too much trash in that time. Right now when everything works almost as I expected I don't see why I have to move on other ground.
