Let's get you going properly first. Then you can at least revert back to proper if tweaked doesn't work out. The fastest easiest thing I'd suggest at this point would be to reinstall everything AGIAN! If all your stuff is clean now and you aren't having any issues, uninstall as described above and reinstall AGAIN. I haven't sent you the wrong way yet. Try it. I bet the size issue will go away now. Make sure you have the latest video driver from Nvidia or whoever makes your card first and foremost. Later!

Nuke

Post by Hermskii » Tue Apr 29, 2008 9:26 pm

Nuke it all again. This time the detection phase should not detect any issues and hopefully will give your video card a clean bill of health. Then when you start the game, it will start in full screen. If it doesn't, I have found the missing info we needed earlier to make it start full screen anyways.

There is no reason why your machine would refuse to run this game normally like everyone else's. I hope reinstall doesn't hurt too bad. I have a fast PC so for me, it takes all of about 7 minutes to uninstall and remove the whole game. Then reinstall the game and all of the mods and bonus packs and then add the final tweaks. I've been doing this often abd for a long time. I can tell peeps how to do it over the phone by now. Good luck. Let us know how it goes. CYA!

nuked it!
it only takes me like 10 or 12 minutes, but it still wont play full screen so it looks like were going to need that info.
Still no lag, today i went out and bot some compressed air, and sprayed my computer clean :D
Should keep it good for a while anyways........

OK

When you installed it, did you say yes to allow it to install direct X even though it is a rather old Direct X? No matter the answer, try this:

Open your unrealtournament.ini

In the section [WinDrv.WindowsClient], be sure the option StartupFullscreen= are set to true.

Find the section: [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice], check that UseFullscreen= are set to true.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not.

Another thing! Make sure that your monitor is not being used as a default monitor in windows. Make sure it is set up as either the exactlt monitor that it really is or aften even better than that is make sure it is set up as a plug and play monitor. Thanks!

I also grabbed this off another forum just like much of what you have been reading already. Here it is:

If you're trying to go fullscreen at a refresh rate your monitor can't support, it will refuse to fullscreen - might want to check that too.

Good luck! Let us know cause I'm all out of ideas.

cant find where to set this.....

i tried turning down my refresh rate-didnt work :?
I then turned it down to as far as i could get it, still didnt work :(

these are both set to true:
StartupFullscreen=
UseFullscreen=

This doesnt make any sense.
before when i first started the thread on the open gl, i was using the d3d8 driver and it worked full screen (just with all the of that lag and crap)
then when i reinstalled and upped it to the d3d9 driver it was exactly the same except the game did look better.
why now would the original d3d driver for ut not work for me?
unless that one monitor setting you mentioned above is my problem.
and yes i do have it checked to install the latest direct x driver, but i thought when you had a higher version then the one the game came with, the game didnt install it.

Yes

Post by Hermskii » Wed Apr 30, 2008 6:32 pm

Yes, even if you have Direct X checked to be installed, it will be skipped if it is detected that you are already running a newer or higher version of direct X. I menetioned to make sure besure because if you actually had this installed on a Windows 98 machine or Windows ME there could be a chance that Direct X wasn't installed yet. In that case, the full screen option would never work.

hmm would the game even work? lol
should i check up on that?
maybe i have a problem with the directx?
oh and another thing that may be the problem.....
Around the time that i first uninstalled my ut, i have been getting messages every time i reboot my computer saying it found new hardware, problem is idk what the hardware is.

Then my big bro told me it might be cause a driver for the video card or sound card may have become corrupt or something.

any thoughts?
